Anybody else noticed a pattern in the village in one of the screens?:

Yes. Its part of the "less detail"-thing.

I think small towns in Nevada NTTR share a similar pattern, probably helps speed up development time.

Precisely. Besides, if you look at a arial view of most RL suburban areas you will see a similar effect (not as pronounced, of course).

I don't plan on studying the villages, unless I want to bomb them. :D

Moved from screenshot (no dicsussion) thread:

The traditional architecture of the houses in Normandy is half-timbered (with "colombage"). I see very few of those in the pictures; so this does not look like Normandy to me.

But what % of buildings?

clue... not very many.

Grey stone is by far the majority cladding. followed by brick.

All of these are from the Normandy/ Bocage region.

And look at this screenshot - https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=143247&d=1467271050

There are 3 buildings in a row in the bottom left with the half-timbered "colombage". Then you can see more in the background on the left.

In fact, it looks to me like about 1 in 5 buildings has that exterior.

In this screenshot I can see the cladding of 21 buildings. 3 of them have the "colomage".

That's 1 in 7.

So, there's no problem here.

Actually I wish ED would do something like this with forest as large single models that are collidable to reduce the fps hit. I know that means Tanks can't drive through them. An alternative would be to make the forests blocks and trees into objects that mission builders can place as individual objects.

All 3 maps do it. Though usually they are a little more randomized in terms of which "block" is used and orientation. Could chalk it up to WIP.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

That is why I said 'how far from release' as opposed to 'how far from getting to fly it'.

have they ever said that they will make different seasons?

I don't recall one way or the other, but Sith's comment does tend to confirm that they already have.

They arent ready for prime time yet..

As the only WWII era map, so far, it would be a major fail to not include at least Winter.

The map could be set almost permanently to cold, overcast and raining, lol. It would make the map more convincing. The Europe feel and look to it.

As D-day was in June 1944, as long as we get the summer and perhaps autumn season initially, then I wouldn't see it as a reason not to launch. All 4 seasons for all maps has to be a prerequisite though.

Never been to Europe then David OC? Don't believe all the urban myths. We do get real weather, but we also get sunshine. I guess you're just not used to getting it all in a single day though? But yes, good point, dynamic weather ought to be a priority at some point too. Nothing is more important when it comes to amphibious operations.
