Welcome to 2016, I am doubtful you will be able to poke around as much in the new maps compared to the older map.

 

Expect ED to keep pushing the new map tech forward as well ;)

 

Yeah, that's a pity (if it leaves modders out). But as I said before: There are more important things than textures.

It allows modders to be awarded for their work, and allows ED to have some control over quality and security of their product. Period.

The major concern for me is not the textures but the trees physics. Especially for the WWII scenario, when the dogfights are low to the ground. I hope that would be fixed so there will be no more situations when "pony" gets away hidden in the branches...

New map has tree collisions... the old one probably never will unless its redone.

Instead of the low altitude sense of blotchiness, more defined and refined renderings of the details. Irrespective of resolution, does not added "detail" also require additional rendering power? As you may have picked up on, I AM NOT a graphics Geek. Just trying to understand.

Are you talking for all the modders ? I have seen some (not mentioning the names here) that aren't really looking forward to selling their mods.

 

As a personal modder, I can say I don't like when people talk for me :(

Funny, I am sure ED feels the same way, but lots of people talking for ED ;)

 

Buttoning up the core game is important for many reasons... honestly, how many versions of the textures do we need? And as I said here or elsewhere... I am not that concerned because the majority of my time will be over Nevada, SoH or Normandy.

PS, I can now confirm that the base stock terrain that comes with DCS will still be able to be modded freely as always.

It would be really cool if ED came out with a DLC to repopulate the old Crimean map from the lock on days, I mean we can still fly there. I would definitely pay for that. Sorry to go off topic, just wanted to put it out there.

Maybe. One must consider the years we have had to populate the current map with mission content. That simply doesn't go away when new maps are released. Couple that with the Caucuses being available for all while other maps (conceivably) will be behind a paywall and you've got a recipe for its dominance for potentially years to come.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Then the cars' manufacturers should allow color change only to approved ones. Otherwise painting auto to pink would decrease quality of the auto in the people's eyes.

You shouldn't also mod of your car because of safety.

Only allowed, only approved. Because the quality, because the control. Because of the awards for modders. Really, like they've never been praised before.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

I would pay for extended Caucasus map if Crimea and west coast of black sea is populated!

It is possible to draw the textures in a way that gives the impression of more detail without hitting the fps. It requires some skill but it is doable. A few modders here have done it already (Mustang, Barthek, B3OP...).
