lifetime warrenty on a videocard is like asking for a warrenty on a cheeseburger... eventually it becomes crap, literally in a cheesburgers case, or it gets old, and not useful...

lifetime warrenty makes sense on a lawnchair, it doesn't get obsolite over time, it becomes no less useful with age...

another way to look at it is... 4 years is a long time to use a high end videocard, if you're still using a 1080 in 4 years, you're probably going to be upgrading to something new soon, unless you're looking for a second-hand videocard, and/or are still using a 970 or a 780, then a 1080 will be a nice upgrade...

don't think i'd get a 1080 if i had a 980 or 980ti...

I got my Asus Strix OC 1920 MHz version of GTX1080. Jumping from SLI 770GTX to this is a major improvement. Now I can fully use the 4K resolution not only for freeflight but also for combat. For me 4K resolution is by far prefered over any VR option.

Also other games like World of Tanks, Arma, AssettoCorsa are now running very smooth in 4K. Expensive toy, but I think it worth it if there are possibilities to acquire it.

Soooo disappointed :(

Got my MSI 1080 gaming X today.. and I saw no difference really in DCS. 50fps on minimum settings. How can this be? I have a 2600k 4.6Gz

Running it with the Rift.

Wow the drama. Do realize with the 1080 you can run a much higher pixel density and not be hit fps wise right..... Check all the other. Things besides dcs world and you will see. Problem is dcs world not our machines with top gear. Give it time to get sorted no hardware is a magic bullet for dcs world performance woes

Yes, I had max setting and 2.0 override and still only had 80% gpu load. So the power is there. Too bad it can't translate to Fps.

Fact I have faith by end of the year we will have much better performance when everything is much more put together on all fronts

Got lucky yesterday hitting the EVGA website, was given a heads up stock should be available shortly on the 1080 FTW, kept refreshing the product page and when it hit quickly got my order in. Good thing I did, the stock got gone in a matter of minutes. Should be shipping today.

Really looking forward to next week!

No news about the performance? dburne? :)

Lol, I just received the new EVGA GTX 1080 FTW late yesterday afternoon. I went with ground shipping and it had to ship from the west coast to the east coast.

Mighty good looking card btw!

Anyway I got it in last night and am set up good to go, only launched DCS for a short time a couple of times before going to bed, will get to spend some time with it today. It seems maybe DCS 1.5 does not benefit as much as DCS 2 does, but really need more time with it.

The ACX3 appears to do better at cooling, this card is idling about 6c degrees cooler than the 970, and it looks like maybe 10c or so cooler under gaming load.

Couldn't be happier with my 1080 locked at 60 fps until engine cpu stuff happens. All this at 4K very nice! All high settings and ultra visibility settings plus I have ground flat shadows turned off.

One note I do use mustangs no tree shadow mod which really helps!
