MiG-21 Changelog 1.5.4

 • Added red cockpit lighting*
 • Added right side white panel spotlight*
 • Corrected several Z-Fighting issues in cockpit artwork*
 • Added missing glow on several switches and levers*

I'm wondering if the 2 English Cockpit mods I'm using will still work with those changes? or will the mods ruin the artwork?

Everything remains as it was. Mods should work fine.

Ok my feedback is as follows regarding current openbeta/1.5.4:

- bug: kneeboard is not working (sometimes only 1st page, sometimes nothing; => makes nagviation impossible as I do not memorize RSBN stations ;))

- FPS in -21 appears to be better/smother?

- honestly I haven't notice any changes regarding radar rendering

- new FM rocks, those stalls are even more epic ;)

- bug: radar lamp is not illuminating when radar is on

Until the kneebord is fixed, you can read the RSBN and radio channels on the cockpit panels (on the right side). It's a perfect opportunity to learn some cyrillic. :P

I think the UUA-1 Angle of Attack indicator is reading a much bigger value that it should. These are tests of AOA as reported by the F2 info bar and the UUA-1 reading during level flight.
Speed|AOA|UUA-1

800|0.3|2.0

700|0.9|4.2

600|1.6|4.5

500|2.9|7.0

400|5.1|11

300|10.1|21

270|12.0|25

260|13.7|28

X|-2.0|-2.5

X|18.5|34
Omitting the last one, linear fit y=(1.55)x + 1.933.

Does anyone else have a problem with aircraft rolling to the right in 1.5.4?

It has been like that since release as far as I can remember.

YES, I DO.

rolling to left is faster than to right.

but no one can tell me why now..

As it's usually the case with MiG-21s, it's somewhat difficult to define a "clean" variant, as configs were different depending on end user. The one in DCS is rather -N, though.

i must ask, which Variant of the Mig-21Bis is the one in DCS World? the Fishbed L or the Fishbed N

MiG-21bis (Izdeliye 75B; NATO "Fishbed-N") equipped with a "Polyot" ILS system

I think it's the 75AP which is a Fishbed-L but the Lazur system is replaced with the SAU-Polyot OI set.

Now I get why TIR in Mig-21 is still working while it's broken for other modules.

F/A-18, F-16, F-14, M-2000C, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E-3, F-86F, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, L-39 Albatros, C-101 Aviojet, P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, Bf 109 4-K, UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50, NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf... and not enough time to fully enjoy it all

Was exactly the first thing I tried after the update...

Guess we'll have to wait another week at least...

This only shows how will be the future modules of the LN. extremely time consuming support. I think the MiG-21 to be abandoned. Every day I have less will to continue buying the modules LN. And that thought is not only mine.

you are claiming lack of support after ln significantly updated the mig-21's rwr and flight model (much more significant than flood lights) just very recently, solely because you are forced to wait a little longer.

in spite of ln tackling multiple heavyweight projects only rivaled by ed (f-14 vs f-18, forrestal class vs nimitz class) they have taken the time to work on the mig-21.

to throw a tantrum over some lights and complaining about lack of updates in spite of all the recent updates, have you no shame?

While we have several more, significant, visual improvements pending implementation (and backporting) to the MiG-21bis; we will begin by re-implementing the night flood lighting.

These lights will have a performance impact pending upgrades to the core engine.

The lights will not be available in 1.5.4 Open BETA. They will be made available in 1.5.4 Release.

don't forget that if you are using the openbeta version you are actually supposed to HELP with finding and properly reporting bugs or behavior you think might possibly be bugs, so that the developers (LN in this case) can fix it for the stable releases.

now imagine that they fix a lot of bugs, a stable version gets released. but then 2 weeks later.. there is a new openbeta update (and this will soon be a new stable version update) and this new update might mess something up with the aircraft. this is not the fault of the developer, this is part of developing for such an everchanging platform (as DCS world is, with openbeta, stable, openalpha 2.0)... i feel this might triple the headache of developers.

to see that the mig21 has a very good and very active update cycle for me is a sign of quality of the developer. they are willing to invest time and manpower in an "older" product.

a lot of bugs can be extremely frustrating, especially when you then have to wait for the regular weekly (or sometimes just every two weeks or longer!) updates..

gotta wait and see and fly what you enjoy!

I also really like the MiG-21 by Leatherneck. But the fact that a few bugs, particularly with the angle of attack can't fix for two years makes me sad.
