this looks awesome!

but for me, that's just the tip of the iceberg and not what is fully holding the release of 2.5.

we'll be dealing with the new caucasus map, the full featured NTTR map, the Mirage 2000C final release with its campaign, same for the F-5E and I'd say we'll be even seeing an open alpha for the F/A-18C and the Hormuz Straight map, maybe even a final release for the Hornet.

I see a downside to that, not for standalone users - that can pre-purchase modules before its release - but steam users that will have to deal with the release of a lot of modules at the same time and that's simply not very wallet-friendly.

but we'll deal with it... as usual... after all, we're the minority, right. and even receiving a lot of flak when we try to discuss this situation :P

exciting times ahead!

so the most important message is "end of 2016"...

(and I know everything is subject to change...)

and I'm interesting in will the Crimea come back with new (T4) Caucasus when 2.5 launched?

the whole quote is

We are still looking at this being completed by the end of 2016.

so any time between now and the end of 2016.

The sooner, the better. Hopefully ED can commit all their ressources to this task.

Terrain in current state on the pictures look nice. The only disappointing is delay, enormous amount of time needed to finish the job.

I just hope it is possible to spare more people for this task, because half year waiting is.... really far away.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Does anybody know something about the performance? The Nevada map, even the midtown of Vegas runs a bit smoother on my machine than the Caucasus. I guess its about the T4 convertion. But if not it would be a low blow, if the new features have to be paid with a GTX 1080 or something.

Really? I understood more like 'we hope it will be done by the end of 2016, but it might not be'. Thus, I wouldn't bet on it happening before the end of 2016.

Regarding the map, I really hope they can enhance a few major harbors on the map (like adding docks and such). It's a sea map and there are ships available, but there's nowhere really to park them.

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

Annoyed by my posts? Please consider donating. Once the target sum is reached, I'll be off to somewhere nice I promise not to post from. I'd buy that for a dollar!

Not that it is really far away, but there still seems to be a hint of uncertainty to even make this time table.

I think the point is different depending on your own outlook, optimist or pessimist. All we can be sure of it is being worked on and is coming along nicely

Yeah, no.

Seriously, if ED haven't said anything (and they haven't), don't go making wild assumptions like that. You'll only serve to upset yourself and others when it doesn't come true.

We've heard nothing about the F-18 for a while now, but we have been hearing about other projects, so it's likely their priority is elsewhere.

I wont disagree with that statement, but the frequency of updates on 2.5 have been telling. Maybe this nice update is the beginning of building on my optimism. :D Again I appreciate the update and things are looking nice! :)

+1

I really wonder about new tree's performance, that frightens me.

current 1.5 trees are fps killer too.

As far as I can see from the screenshots, it seems that I will have to paint roofs, again.

When we are speaking about a new Caucasus terrain, I wonder how vehicle will look through the TGP and Shkval.

Things like the carrier DLC probably would likely be release-able into 1.5.

I do agree with this, when I think that carriers are somewhat controllable to some degree similar to ground units in CA. I do wonder however if features/coding are in place or still planned for this year for this to be implemented.

Looks like Chizh confirmed some thoughts here in another thread. This is good news.

No. Carriers with land projects not tied.

I wouldnt say that outright.. i know plenty of users that are happy with DCSW via Steam.

But how happy are they about the update cycle?

There is no doubt about the quality of what they are doing.

However the release of 2.5 likely happening in 5 months is a bit sad :(

Nice update, I can't go back flying the old Caucasus map...

Any word on the Crimea content? Will it be brought back now with the 64 bit terrain engine system?
