Only 5 months away,uh.

Can't imagine what people waiting for Nevada had to endure.

It was a long, painful journey. Would be nice to get a 2.0 update to bring in the F-5E and other updated modules.

This weekend. You can bet on it!:D

It was the same as the implementation for the Gazelle.

First week on version 1.5 and the week after in 2.0. :smartass:

Priority one of the week for ED. :D:pilotfly:

If you're talking about the wait from when we first had the map with the original release of the A-10C? Yeah, really long time, many years in fact! So 5 months in comparison is a breeze. ;)

You could still fly the "old" Nevada Map from the beta until 1.5.

Was a simple copy and paste from the A-10C beta to DCS... but that map was not feasible performance wise, especially with the first (untextured) Vegas buildings.

So ED developed/ported a new graphics engine to DCS World (couple of years to do that) and in parallel built a new Nevada map from scratch, based on the new engine.:smilewink:

I like the end result and consider it time well spent. Compare the old map to current Nevada, coming Caucasus update, Street of Hormuz teasers and preview pics of Normandie 1944...

I cant imagine the two step on each others toes too much, if we are talking the Hornet, as far as I know the development is proceeding as expected.

I certainly hope so.....

I really hope the people who program the cockpit functions aren't the ones programming the new features/effects of 2.5....

As much as I would be excited about the merge, the Hornet's beta/early access would be a far better Christmas present :smilewink:

Indeed... I agree.

VERY ANNOYING HAVING TWO DCS WORLDS 1.5 and 2.0, not compatible with each other.

Who else is doing this? NOBODY It's like having two words two photoshops,

two tomb raiders, two fsx's.. ?

The reason you have two DCS installations is because you CHOOSE to participate in the Open Alpha version. There is only 1 stable version of DCS. The rest labeled Alpha and Beta are test versions created to speed the improvement of the stable version.

ED could have simply not released Nevada until they updated the Caucases map...but they didn't.

ED could have simply cobbled together something out of the original Nevada map and fulfilled their deal with the A-10 beta community...but they didn't.

ED could do things the quick and dirty way...but they don't. Because they don't we have a far better and enduring product.

The updating of Nevada and the release/merge to 2.5 are unrelated. And he said BY the end of the year, not the end of the year.... so anytime between now and the end of the year is what they are trying for.

Are you saying that 2.0 will not be updated until merge?

By this logic that the test branches don't count then NTTR has yet to be released. Either the OA branch is real or it's not.

I think his point is that if its that annoying to someone to have these installs, it might be better just to wait till release, then it will be merged. Early access like this isnt for everyone.

Yes, this exactly! It is OpenALPHA, as in Open = people outside ED and Testers group are given access to find bugs, test performance etc. on multiple real world PC configurations.

Alpha = not optimized version for feature introduction and testing. Usually followed by a mostly feature complete Beta version (first closed, then open) to optimize performance, eliminate bugs and define the release version.

After development moved through these stages, comes the "Release"!

So, definitely yes, NTTR has not been released yet, but those of us willing to participate in the OpenAlpha and test it against PC Hardware and Modules can participate in OpenAlpha and OpenBeta programs, which gives them early access to the stuff there is to come. :)

And I for one am tickled pink that they do this. I have so missed the NTTR map since being able to fly on it many years ago with the A-10C release... I'm a very happy camper now to be able to test it out in all its' glory!!
