DCS World Weekend News Update Discussion

Generally... A module has trailers, tutorials, screenshots etc. out about one to three months before release. With everything that is going on (2.5, Viggen, P40F, Spitfire, Normandy) I would be very suprised if we start seeing tutorials of the F-18 on Hormuz next month... thats right, a Christmas release would mean a lot if F-18 content next month... I like to fly the Hornet soon, but please manage your expectations on estimated release dates.

I agree, I even don't expect F-18C this year to be honest. I am not sure how big is the team but I imagine they have a lot on their plates with 2.5 plus doubt it will be bugs free, again something that will take time to iron out.

And there is this WWII stuff, not my cup of tea really but amazing work it is indeed.

My guess would be that the main focus at the moment is on 2.5 with updated Caucasus plus WWII map/units and aircraft modules. Might be that we'll see some of those starting to be released this year.

F-18C and Hormuz afterwards, possibly somewhere next year, optimistically during first half of it.

F/A-18, F-16, F-14, M-2000C, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E-3, F-86F, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, L-39 Albatros, C-101 Aviojet, P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, Bf 109 4-K, UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50, NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf... and not enough time to fully enjoy it all

IMHO, there is no possible release of new aircraft until v2.5.X is released.

My understanding is that ED is working as hard as possible to get this upgrade into place and most of the effort is to accomplish this.

While aircraft versions such as the F-18 are in the works, and third party new aircraft are being worked on, the major effort is to get 2.5 out the door, beta tested, moved into final release first.

Then, IMHO, we will start to see new aircraft arrive. PLUS - for an appropriate F-18 evnironment, carrier ops should be a must. I for one, would not be surprised if this element is also awaiting the v2.5 release. (Not to mention the strait of Hormuz).

Gentlemen: sequencing and time. Priorities first.

Cheers.

Next month? I'm assuming that all the releases are for Xmas. F18, p40, spitfire, Normandy and maybe some hints from bst and work on hormuz.

Besides all the words that have been written about this matter, I´d be lucky to get some Infos about the F-18 Status again. Last time it was mentioned at January 29th within the DCS World Future update. I dont want to write what was mentioned there, but I pretty much believe that we will not see what was said there. I am long enough Member of this Community to know whats going on, but thats not my point. According to this Newsletter, I at least would be happy to have some Words on the Status, but there´s absolutely silence about it.

It´s nice to see that WWII Content is growing, but those is beeing mentioned nearly every time in a News Letter. I dont really expect to see the Hornet this Year, but it would at least nice to know how they proceed with it. It also would be good to know if they would have stoped working on it for the benefit of DCS 2.5, to focus back on it once 2.5 is released....just a few words, to know whats going on there.

There are still news (okay, not in the official 'Friday News'), samples:

I'd love to but I'm neck deep in the Hornet manual and systems implementation with the SMEs (we have two Hornet pilots that also play DCS) and engineers.

or

So ATFLIR instead of the NITE Hawk, why you ask? Info became available for the better pod, so guess what, we are getting the better pod. It shouldnt hurt development times, but that will become clearer down the road.

Except for the Viggen, which Cobra specifically stated there would be a very short pre-release/hype period ("a few weeks between announcement and release")

DCS modules are built up to a spec, not down to a schedule.

In order to utilize a system to your advantage, you must know how it works.

Thanks, thats exactly what I was looking for, now I know whats going on...thanks

EDIT: I wonder why this actually quite important information has´nt been published via Newsletter? Why was it hidden within a thread?

Matt posts in threads from time to time; no reason to add everything in a newsletter.

There is more info "hidden" in the F/A-18 thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=168861

Especially the last few weeks added some great info (Lot 20 standard, TGP will now be the more sohpisticated ATFLIR) provided by Sith who is in contact with Wags/ED.

I'd like to point something out as well. These updates are not meant to tease or hype the product. Matt and ED know how eagerly await this module is by many, and as they firm up information they want to share it, they are excited about it as much as we are. If people feel like these updates are too much I can ask Matt to stop, but I doubt that is what the majority want. I just saw some comments elsewhere and wanted to give my feelings on them, doing it here makes more sense, and I dont get called names like I am back in kindergarten either wink.gif

Memphis probably had a misread folks and didn't notice the thread the post was made in. No need for the bashing.

I think Bunyap hinted at the map size and I believe a predicted 360x360 was planned with possible northern expansion.

Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. If you don't, sooner or later, some guy who does use them all will kick your ass.

What Europe map? Caucasus which is Europe / Asia border rather than Europe alone? If yes then it was clearly stated there will be no change in the region and size.

good point, but there People around who do not frequently check the Forums. I for my self have been away from the Forums for quite a while. I dont say that its ED´s fault, your argument is absolutely correct. I simply thought that those kind of news would be part of any newsletter which I read every time when they arrive...anyways,everythings clear now and I know where to look when I want to know more than the newsletter might say :)
