Why?

Because I like org charts. I won't debate the rest of your post.

Sith, I get it. You are a community manager and with that title you are obligated to tow company line. However; the problem that I have as it seems many others in this thread have too. Is that only a 1/4 of the community is given the real truth of things and the rest are left in the dark. It kind of "appears" that a "bait and switch" is happening where we are told of all the great things are coming this year and we are encouraged to purchase their modules so we all be ready to fly them on the new maps and 2.5. Then we discover quiet by chance that all of the good news is not that good after all.

ED is a Russian company, it is only reasonable that they would be more "free" with their efforts in the Russian boards. They don't prevent you from viewing said boards...

It kind of "appears" that a "bait and switch" is happening where we are told of all the great things are coming this year and we are encouraged to purchase their modules so we all be ready to fly them on the new maps and 2.5.

Sorry, I just have to disagree with you... You were told that they believed they could get certain aspects of DCS ready by the end of the year. You are also told many times that it was a best guess and not a promise. You have also been told many times that only after a module goes into pre-purchase can you start marking dates on a calendar.

Bait and Switch is a specific legal term; there is no bait and switch here.

Does it suck that DCS F-18C may be delayed even further than many of us anticipated - you bet! Did I have my hopes up for DCS 2.5 / F-18C / Carrier module this year - guilty as charged. Are some of those still possible, sure.

We can be discouraged; we do have to keep things in perspective. We have yet to be given a date for any of the new releases. All ED representatives have always stated they were shooting for "by the end of the year." That never translated into "we got some awesome Christmas presents for you."

Again, it sucks - it really does. It is NOT the end of the world. Patience will be your greatest asset in the coming weeks / months.

Imagine if they released the DCS F-18C today and there was a major bug that appeared when switching between A/G and A/A radar... Just imagine how some in the community would be in an uproar. If ED needs more time, they need more time.

The only argument, if you want to call it that, would be that it would be welcomed if Ed acknowledged delays earlier and more often and helped set expectations of an over-zealous community. (people would still bitch and complain about that, so that is probably why they don't do it)

After this recent "spat" I can see ED damn-near closing the lid on development updates until right before releases. We've been down that road before and the lack of communication is beyond frustrating. I hope ED does not take that approach.

Until they actually sell or offer a module up for grabs nobody should be complaining about it. Until the f18 or anything mentioned is for sale nobody should be whining that they don't have it.

Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. If you don't, sooner or later, some guy who does use them all will kick your ass.

Bait and switch? Seriously? What have you bought that you cant enjoy right now? I may be a community manager, but I am an unpaid volunteer, and I am a fan who enjoys this hobby, and I have kids and a wife, I have little spare time, if I thought ED was wasting my time I would have moved on to something else. SO I am not some sort of paid monkey spouting someone else's words. Everyone needs to hold on and cool down, there is a ton to do in DCS right now, I am struggling to learn half the modules I own, if you have mastered everything you own great, if you have nothing left to do in DCS until new stuff comes out, and you dont want to fire up DCS till you do, then go play minesweep or something till the next release. But dont make crazy baseless accusations without thinking it through.

Sorry if this post comes off a little snotty, I am just dissapointed about how this has all gotten blown out if whack. I still looking forward to the Spitfire very soon, Normandy very soon, and 2.5 and the Hornet coming along after that. If they come back and tell me its gonna be a year for sure before early access, then so be it, its gonna be worth the wait, I know this because of past modules. I will be dissapointed, but its just a game at the end of the day and I have an F-5 and M2000 staring at me wanting to me mastered.

I think what Sith said shouldn't be ignored. When he said not to read too much into the quotes. While I don't think there was a mistranslation I think there may have been poor use of wording by Chizh. I am not worried about delays, they happen and are expected, I am a little disheartened about the lack of consistent information being given to two different language groups, look at the mess it has caused.

Q: As I understand, there will be no F/A-18 this year?

A: No. It's another year's worth of work at least.

Let's use the M-2000 as an example here, it was released about a year ago and work continues a year later. Since the last official word we got from ED was a hopeful 2016 early access hornet release, and no change in the last newsletter I am still thinking there is a good chance of an EA hornet release this year.

We can also look at hints dropped by sith earlier in regards to Wags being head down in documentation and all, it sounds like a crunch to get EA out to us.

So, I call this statement bad wording, EA officially as far as we know is still on track for 2016 with a full finished module due out a year +, no surprise there.

Q: And is the plan to release DCS 2.5 in 2016 still in force?

A: No. 2.5 will not be released this year. There will be a large update to Nevada and early access to Normandy.

This one is a little more surprising, last we heard most of the work was on 2.5, I am disappointed but I understand that delays happen. Better a delay than tons of bugs for what will be a huge release for ED.

Q: I remember at the end of last year there was a developer post saying that 2016 will be «the year of aircraft carriers». It's almost November. Did this conception change? smile.gif

A: It did. Aircraft carriers are postponed for now.

Again, not surprising, I think this may have been before ED committed to totally redoing the black sea map, a lot of work has apparently gone into it and in turn delayed some stuff, carriers in this case. Edited by StandingCow

I agree, that was my reaction too. There have been several instances through the year where it was suggested the 2016 window for EA was still being aimed for, most notably in the last couple of months. Wags was also pretty clear about the objectives they had for the last four months of 2016 - notably, integrating systems and working on the PFM (which could blow out into early 2017, sure). Aside from Chizh's comment, there has been nothing to suggest a year delay for EA. However, there's plenty to suggest an EA period could be a year or more, as has been the case with a lot of modules. To me, that makes Chizh's comment make more sense. I'm definitely looking forward to some clarification.

Have a look at the credits of a manual of your choosing. Not exactly a chart but at least names and titles. You should be able to connect the dots.

While this is also my hope, it wouldn't be the first time if things were delayed a year. Remember how DCS 2.0 was first announced in the newsletters for 2014 and then barely released just before the end of 2015? Here's hoping that it would at least be out of alpha stage by the end of 2016.

Seen a lot of German units and an ai b17...what about allied units and something like a he111, or a do217 perhaps.

lol another "are we there yet". It'll be done when it's done, I know I can't wait either but....tough s*** I guess . As for LNS, I doubt ED's timeline effects leathernecks F-14 and carrier as these are being built internally and as far as I know unlike the ground radar LNS is not waiting for anyone else to release a feature. On that subject I think LNS is building there own radar code from scratch which includes some sort of ground mapping? But I might be thinking of another module.

I am just tired of seeing this issue dodged. Every time a post on the RU forum contradicts what is posted here, there is a series of explanations and denials which ultimately make it look, from the outside, like the Russian speaking employees, at ED, and the English speaking ones don't work for the same people.
