Wow, that was good read on that post from the Super Hornet pilot. Very interesting.

I agree Trump needs to stay off twitter, focus on the economy and getting jobs back into the US, and not worry about F-35 costs.

The dude is wacky!

He pretty much has everything covered.

The essence: just another bullshit Trump publicity stunt, that may cost the US tax payers dearly...

The next four years are certainly going to be interesting.

On the bright side we now have the best looking first family that has ever occupied that building.

Unfortunately most foreign politicians are not easily intrigued by the looks.

If looking good could compensate for experience, negotiation skills and knowledge, we would have a bunch of Victoria's Secret models run the world! :megalol:

Quite true, but since I will have to see them for at least four years I am not going to complain.

New Block 4 Super Bugs would likely not be cheaper than F35s,

However retrofitting younver airframes to the Block 4 Standard might.

The one long reddit post is pretty much spot on.

The super Hornet was only meant to replace Legacy Hornets, Unify the deck to cut costs and fill the gap until the F-35s take over.

Boeing has advanced the design, by their own choice and own development costs, but is offering everythi g to the export/foreign buyers.

and those countries are very interested in those upgrades.

interestingly enough i dont think the Super bugs replaced all of the legacy hornets. No doubt the Superhoernt is is the Primary USN aircraft, now, but there a couple of squadrons that still seem to be equipped with legacy hornets \ or operate mixed legacy and super hornets. i recall seeing footage of these Old uSN hornet being use against the airstrikes against ISIL. along with Super hornets.

The SH wasn't really meant to replace the Hornet AFAIK, but the F-35C is replacing the Hornet.

so that means navys going to be buying a realtively small # of F35C's in comparison the the SUper Hornets already in service, since there are more Superhornets than there are legacy hornets , if the F35C is merely replacing legacy hornets not any E/F's

U.S Navy is buying about 260 F-35Cs.

well if we do the math , considering only the RAAF only has aprox 24 Super bugs in service and the only other user atm of Super bugs is the USN, that means 476 super hornet for the USN.

so whats gonna replace the Super bugs when thye everntually start getting aged airframes? more F35C purchases down the line? or are those gonna stick around until the day 6th gen concept aircraft are built?

Where are you getting this number from?

The Super Hornets are going to be replaced by the F/A-XX program.

so that means the super hornets are going to have to stick it out 2030 at least. how long then considering at the moment these "6th generation"F/A-XX is nothing but a mere paper concept.

i think 2030 is pretty optimistic estimated date. with all the trouble and delays F35 went through, i can but doubt the paper concept will be around that soon.

I'm gonna go out on a limb as I am well aware oh how political correctness started being more important than calling out issues for what they really are and say that I see Trump for a much smarter man than most people give him credit. After all he defeated the completely corrupt establishment of rcorporate America running both major parties that also have all of media completely biased and working for them and won the election. He is no perfect but at least he is not one of those (I think at least hes not) politicians that make one speech for their donors and completely different speech for the public.
