lazduc Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Is there any guess when 2.5 may come? Reason I ask ......want to plan ahead for building new simulator. I would like to see your time line from information that has been announced here.
cichlidfan Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Anyone's guesses are worthless because that is all they would be, or wishful thinking. Right now, I would imagine even ED doesn't know when v2.5 will be ready. NRG-Vampire Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 crystalballing ??? i dont think this is difficult like that :D so if you are asking the merged (v.2.5?) version for Nevada, Normandy and for the new Caucasus/Black Sea map herez my 2 cents merged Nevada+Normandy: this spring (the current/old caucasus map will be spereated as well) the full merged version will come with the new caucasus map: autumn time or around Xmas ;)
lazduc Posted February 9, 2017 Author Posted February 9, 2017 Let me rephrase this. With what has been reported by ED over the past years, when should the 2.5 version be released? Chiclid, you say "Anyone's guesses are worthless...and you say, " Right now, I would imagine even ED doesn't know..." [You imagine,... isn't that a guess on your part]....LOL. Taking that into consideration, I will take your comment as, you say, "worthless". Probad, you say "whatever happened to just living life as it came too much crystalballing these days". Bare in mind I am 75 years old. I live life as it comes. I just don't have a hell of a lot of time left to wait...for things like software development....seems like it has been a long time for several important developments already. Years in fact. So I am curious as too what others who have a much better familiarity with timelines penned here as to when we might expect to see the launch/release of 2.5 Since my time is becoming more valuable I try and focus my interests on entertainment that is enjoyable to me. I do not enjoy plodding through software that is in constant flux. Hoping that 2.5 will bring relief to this situation. NRG-Vamp, Thank you for your estimation as your "post count" and "reputation" add validity to your expertise in your opinion. Again thanks sincerely for your input and understanding where I may be coming from. Lazduc

exray Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 (edited) Here's my guess. ED stated that they won't begin working on the Caucasus upgrade needed for 2.5 until Normandy is done. I believe that ED recently added more content (Southern UK) to the Normandy map, thus more development time for it as well. I don't think Normandy will release as planned in Q1 (6 weeks to go). I'll say May release for Normandy and then they get to work on 2.5 I'm thinking Q4 2017 or Q1 2018 for 2.5, based on what ED has said, some speculation, and release schedule history. For a bonus guess, F18 Q2 2018. Edited February 9, 2017 by exray i7-4790k @ 4.4GHZ, 32GB G. lazduc Posted February 9, 2017 Author Posted February 9, 2017 Cichlid, Look at NRG's join date.....then look at yours...who has history?? Thanks Exray for your information. 2018 hope my eyes hold out. Laz
Aginor Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 (edited) Cichlid, Look at NRG's join date.....then look at yours...who has history?? Thanks Exray for your information. 2018 hope my eyes hold out. Laz Both have. Just like you and me. My join date is 2011 because I lost my old account. And even that doesn't say anything, many of us have been flying DCS and its predecessors much longer than posting here. And post count? Seriously? Sithspawn has a huge post count and we all know he is just the biggest spammer here. :smilewink: Everyone with more than 3000 posts in ten years probably is. Including me. EDIT: Oh, and @topic: At some point in summer probably. But could easily become december for all we know. Everything is subject to change. cichlidfan Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 (edited) Considering that the only thing ED produced between NRG's and my join dates is FC2 and Black Shark (the A-10 was released only weeks prior to my join date), we have the same history with regard to the development of DCS World. EDIT: Btw, you are the one who brought up post count and rep. For a bonus guess, F18 Q2 2018. mistaken conclusion, WW2 team has different to ED Map team. The Caucasus map (and NTTR Nevada and surely Straight of Hormuz) has projects on parallel. The Southern UK has only low detail (by Wags). The only part "required" to 2.5 has Caucasus, and actually Wags has post some interesting pics some time ago, expected can put more updates soon. They aren't working on Caucasus until Normandy is done. I don't think I've made any mistaken conclusions. From ED: "We have determined that the DCS World 2.5 update will not be available in 2016 as we had earlier hoped. This is mainly due to additional work needing to be done of the Caucasus map update, and we don’t feel it can be accomplished within the next two months at a high level of quality. Before we can complete this map update, we first need to finalize and release both the Nevada map update and the Normandy map. Those, along with the Spitfire, are now our highest priorities. Once the Nevada update and the Normandy map tasks are complete, our map team can return to the Caucuses map and move the 2.5 closer to an Open Beta release." So the ED map team isn't working on Caucasus now, and they didn't think they could do the work in 2 months... so you've got at least what, 3-4 months on Caucasus before 2.5 is possible? I'm sticking to my Q4'17/Q1'18 prediction. Edited February 9, 2017 by exray i7-4790k @ 4.4GHZ, 32GB G. The Black Swan Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 would be horrible, for 2.5 to go from looking good for coming out by the end of 2016, to maybe the end of 2017....... This update, lets not forget, is DCS World 2 but with more features that they keep adding which keeps pushing it out. I certainly hope that ED are able to get this update out well before the end of this year. GeForce GTX 970, i5 4690K 3.5 GHz, 8 GB ram, Win 10, 1080p

As far as I remember, ED said a while back they were holding off Caucasus until Nevada got upgraded. It's been upgraded now, so that blocker has passed. Normandy (along with most WWII stuff) is a second team, and won't have much affect. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
