That's what I'm talking about!!! Absolutely outstanding!

As for what's on the MFD- I have no idea, but it's not RWS(the Ka-50 doesn't have one) nor the LWS since it's indicator is located on the lower right corner of the over-head panel.

Looks like we have new flares FX! I wonder if it's more FPS friendly.

There is a satellite navigation NAVSTAR/GLONASS page. Grin squares are GLONASS satellites on the satellite constellation map.

In the russian forum Chizh says that the flares haven't been touched.

Black Shark is worth waiting! ED is taking their time to set the helicopter simulation standard for decades to come. I like what I see.

...and what are those white dots in screenshots?! They look like stars but some of them are visible over terrain!

I'm guessing snow flakes?

Dang, all those pics look amazing! Imaging if we had that detail on all of lockon's flyables. The A-10 might actually look sexy!

Good question - Snow, perhaps?

It's snow, you have to have the slider all the way to the right to have a full overcast, but any lower and you'll have a "clear" day with snowfall. That is of course, you have the Seasonal pack installed as well.

Chizh shared some things in the russian forum that IMO would be interesting for you. I decided to translate it and post it here:

We have modelled 28 virtual satelites of the NAVSTAR system and another 24 of the GLONASS system. Real procedure of helicopters positioning via satelites is modelled. It is aslo possible inside the sim to remove or add satelites using scripts. For example, it is possible to have situation when part of the satelites lose track for some reason and then the pilot will recieve fasle GPS navigation with big inaccuracy.

Onboard the helicopter is modelled inertial navigation system which receives GPS correction every 5 minutes. It also possible to correct the INS manualy passing over a point will known coordinates or by locking a ground object with known coordinates using the Shkval complex.

Yes, we have modelled the ABRIS system in details. 80% of the real functionality of this device are implemented in the sim. The section of the manual concerning the ABRIS is now 125 pages long.

Can we get MTV in-cockpit, then?

Actually considering the growing trend for dynamic in-game advertising this kind of thing won't be too far off. Probably MS will model in-flight streaming movies.....

The Ka-50, btw, because some of you are asking, is modelled without RWR.

There's an LWR: http://www.lockon.ru/img/products/large/d3e1a4a176cf62f0228f07f9b5637335.jpg

It is the instrument on the top left corner with the five red bulbs (unlit) 4 of them arranged in a square turned to stand on a corner.

GPS satellites in space - you people are insane, in a good way :)

While I'm at it, is ED considering a platinum version with all add-on's merged into one DVD edition, similar to Il2-1946?

Wow, great news about the new nav systems and very stunning screenshots!

By the way, does anyone know where the red light on the side of the building comes from? It seems to far away for the left nav light. Also, could anyone in the know please go into detail on how the LWR works and what its lights indicate (if possible)?

Felix

The red glow is the helicopter's strobe light hitting the building. You can see it on the chopper's belly here:

The LWS is very simple. Four lights to indicate threat bearing, plus two rectangular laps to indicate above/below, and a red reset button, which needs to be pressed to reset the display after each contact.
