Rain Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Since 2.5 release I haven't been able to get a single solid flight because I can't connect/load in to the servers. Even when I get in one by luck or low player count or whatever, the games freezes after 20-25 minutes. From release of 2.5 fast forward to yesterday. I downloaded more then 15 gigs of updates. Some would say you would bloody fix this issue!!!!!!! I sank all this money on mirage 2000, gazzele, spitfire, nevada etc. to sit in the menu of your game? I want to fly and not waste my time in loading screens just to freeze at the spawning selection screen. Atleast lower the price of the bloody modules before you fix your game!!! 2.5 indeed is amazing in the rare low pop 5 men servers. But siting in the menu for 95% of the time does not cut your sky high module prices! FIX THE DAMN LOADING SCREEN, FIX THE MEMORY LEAK SO WE CAN FLY.
Sn8ke Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Lol I hope they are fixing this before they F/A-18C is released into this mess. Asus Prime Gaming Wifi7 // Intel 14900K @5.5GHz // 64Gb DDR5 6000MHz // 3090 RTX // 4TB Samsung NVME M.2

Also in my part, except from a little more time to load. 2.5 Work like a charm, and many others, they already said that there are no Memory leaks per see, but they are working on fixing an issue with RAM at load. Rain Posted May 22, 2018 Author Posted May 22, 2018 My PC: i7 3820@3.6ghz 2011.socket 16GB DDR3 1600 mhz ASUS GTX970 Strix 4GB VRAM PC specs are irrelevant. Its happening to alot of people around me online that I talk to and fly with. You can't expect everybody to be running on DDR4 64GB of ram and GTX1080ti, in reality only very small percentage of people got that kind of budget to be able to run that.
Rain Posted June 1, 2018 Author Posted June 1, 2018 Bought F/A-18C and Persian Gulf map... The only thing I got there flying in the hornet was a slideshow. If I wanted to see a slideshow I would simply use Powerpoint and not DCS. Any optimisations (for Persian Gulf) and memory leak problem on the horizon? Or do you require that everyone of us needs to have latest 5000 euro PC rig?
Rain Posted June 1, 2018 Author Posted June 1, 2018 And... what a terrible and frustrating experience that was...

Also this game is drive intensive, using a SSD helped me a lot too with stuttering.
Rain Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 lol You're running a 6 year old processor, that part of your problem, I upgraded from a 4th gen to 8th gen late last year, keeping the same video card and my fps went up 50% I can guarantee you your motherboard and/or CPU is bottle necking your GPU, just food for thought. LOL-ing at me for using an enthusiast class CPU still today because I can and it works so excellent with other AAA titles and various indie games and early access games tells me you don't understand what this chip can still do, and will able to do for a few more years. I got absolutely no problems running other games, matter a fact in comparison to my friends I play with on a daily basis I run some games better then them on their newer CPUs. About the drive. I got DCS installed on M.2 drive, and I am running Windows 7 on the SSD. Both again top range Samsung M.2 NVMe 500GB and Samsung SSD 850 Pro.
Mars Exulte Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 @5.JG11 Rain "other games" is just that : OTHER games. 99% of games are not processor intensive. This one is, so yeah, there is that, and having a relatively old processor is an obvious point of bottleneck in DCS, irrespective if Battlefield or Witcher don't care about it. THAT SAID, in this particular case, since you're talking about multiplayer, that's not a relevant aspect. As I understand it, the 2.5 launch version has serious issues on the multiplayer side of things that have been resolved in the Beta version. There should be a very large update coming to the release version within the next few weeks resolving most of that (I believe it was memory related). If you're already running the Beta version, then yes, you should probably consider updating your equipment. One of the things that came with 2.5 was increased system requirements. People running particularly old equipment are going to have to upgrade or stay with the previous version of the game. Pretty straightforward. Best way to view it is that 2.5 is a completely different game (it pretty much is, seeing as how 1.5 has been discontinued and it's using a completely different engine). Your budget is irrelevant, things change, get with the times. Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
Rain Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 Its intensive because its not optimised ie its broken.
Yurgon Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 lol You're running a 6 year old processor, that part of your problem, I upgraded from a 4th gen to 8th gen late last year, keeping the same video card and my fps went up 50% I can guarantee you your motherboard and/or CPU is bottle necking your GPU, just food for thought. Also this game is drive intensive, using a SSD helped me a lot too with stuttering. I'm still running DCS on an i7 2600K @ 3.4 GHz with 16 GB of RAM. What really helped me get better FPS was jumping the gun and getting a GTX 1070 ti a couple months ago. The mobo (PCIe bus) is probably bottlenecking the GPU, but with a bit of tweaking here and there, both the release version and the OB run fine on my system in WQHD. I was actually a bit surprised that I even got bearable loading times when I installed a version of DCS on an HDD due to space constraints. Basically, from my experience I can't confirm that what you're saying is 100% spot on. Aaaaand that leads me back to... PC specs are irrelevant. Its happening to alot of people around me online that I talk to and fly with. And I know people whose specs are below yours and mine, and while they certainly can't kick all the settings to the max, they can run DCS in MP. Now we know a few things about your system, but we don't know your screen res. VR? Triple screen with more than 4K resolution? USB screens with Cougar MFDs? Are you by any chance running two or more antivirus programs in parallel to be on the very safe side? What are your DCS settings, and did you override any settings in your GFX card driver? If you actually want a running game, help us help you.

jonsky7 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I was having problems until I moved my DCS folder in saved games so it generated a new one. I then copied only my input folder and monitor setup from the old saved game folder to the new one and now working ok. I think I saw something about a network error in the log and there were a few files with network in the name in the old save game folder which might have had something to do with it, who knows :)

HiJack Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Rain, have you tried to just rename the "Saved Games\DCS.openbeta" folder? Just rename it to check if things changes, rename to "Saved Games\DCS.openbeta_old" and then start DCS. You need to use your ED-Store login name/mail address and password when DCS starts.
ouPhrontis Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 For whatever it is worth; that i7 3820 is likely fine for DCS, because on some tests it out performs my X5675 on single core.
