sopebird Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Hi guys, Still learning the basics of F/A-18C yet. I noticed I usually got Master Caution when I push my throttle to full power either before airfield takeoff or carrier launch. Did I forgot something before take off? I could not find any abnormal behavior after takeoff. Regards sopebird
triplec76 Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 The left DDI should tell you what the warning is. My guess is the trim. You probably hit the trim button like I and most of us have done, but at higher weights the FCS requires a higher trim setting (12 vs 16). It's been discussed somewhat thoroughly in the bug section.
ED Team Wags Posted June 3, 2018 ED Team Posted June 3, 2018 Probably either trim not set correctly or seat not armed. Check your DDI cautions. Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544
Nealius Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Ejection seat armed? I got an MC warning on takeoff once because I left it on safe.
sopebird Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 Thank you guys! My seat was armed. I'll check my trim next time.
eliterizzo Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Thank you guys! My seat was armed. I'll check my trim next time. try bringing up the checklist on one of your ddi's to help you remember everything before takeoff and landing Sytem Specs: Asus armor Z170 mobo, Intel 6700k i7 chip, gtx 1080, 32g DDR4, 800watt pws, Win10, Samsung NVME M.2 256G Drive, 1T Samsung Evo SSD, 250G Corsair SSD, Asus 4k 28" 60hz Monitor, Oculus Rift, WarthogTM stick and throttle, CH rudder pedals
RedTail11 Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 (edited) Still happens to me all these years later. I've just been ignoring it for the last 2 years I've been playing but I'm at the point now I play a lot more F/A-18 and it's getting obnoxious. Happens no matter what whenever I advance the throttles past halfway, unless the MC is already lit from a previous throttle advance. Happens from cold start, hot start on the cat/runway, or already in the air. Tried the usual Google search but it looks like no one has an answer and all the threads on DCS/Reddit are old and dead. markom Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Can you try it again and do the following: 1. Set left DDI to show HUF 2. Take a screenshot or photo of left DDI 3. Post #2 here

Check left DDI, there will be text saying what's wrong.

Check your WINGS LOCKED, TRIM, FLAPS at 1/2 and SEAT ARMED. As Foka said, it should give you an indication in your left DDI. Only time I get this usually is when I forget to lock the wings (often when pushing throttle forward when hooking to the cat). If it isn't one of these check post a track and someone will spot what you're missing.

IIRC if the plane thinks you won't make it to the HOME waypoint on the FPAS page, it'll also set off a caution when you advance the throttle
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Yes the “home fuel” caution - even when taking off fully fuelled - got so annoying I always set HOME waypoint to 58 as part of my startup procedure, before I even start taxiing… 1 Spoiler Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 96GB G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5-6000 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 990Pro 4TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero VPC MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-curve extension | VPC CM3 throttle | VPC CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | VPC R1-Falcon pedals with damper | Pro Flight Trainer Puma OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings Win11 Pro 24H2 - VBS/HAGS/Game Mode ON

The point of that is to set home base as far away as possible so you don’t get the annoying deedle-deedle every few seconds. 59 is used by the system as Bullseye by default so 58 is as high as you can set it. You probably won’t ever have 58 waypoints in a flightplan so there’s no risk of interference. They are skipping over WP 59 since it defaults to the Bullseye set in mission editor, so if you go backwards, once you get through the markpoints, it's the first one you come to. It's also not likely to get used since it's so far up so an out of the way waypoint basically.
