DCS World has greatly changed since DCS: Black Shark 2 was originally released, and we thought it time to create a new Black Shark 2 trailer that places the Ka-50 in this greatly improved environment. We are also working improvements to the Ka-50 to include new graphical effects and rendering technologies.

yeah... still old cockpit textures... don't know about the beacon light that right now is visible inside the cockpit and is impossible to have on without getting crazy

Yea you're right. Actually there're so many bugs that need to be fixed immediately; lights in cockpit, smokes in cockpit, no proper ATC response in multiplayer, PC freeze in crowded servers, server lags, some sound issues etc. etc.

 

All these are something that reduces the enjoyment of the sim unfortunately.

Well, whatever they do for our beloved Shark, I am really happy and thankful to see that they are putting some love back into this fantastic old module. Maybe for the 10th anniversary of the release of this module? (Dec 2008 if I remember?)

This is fantastic news. I have only been starting to get deep into the ka-50 since 2.5 came out so the wee problems are making it quite difficult.

Same, don't use Facebook, but this did pop up in my YouTube feed. Very happy to see some attention to the Shark as it is very fun (and challenging) to fly and fight with.

What are the current night vision options? I just looked on the DCS pages for the Ka-50 and it says the OVN-1 is available, but can't find it anywhere in the control options. (Except the switch on the back wall, which I assumed referred to the NVG tolerant VC lighting).

isnt nvgs or helmet mounted designator a toggle in the mission editor or ground crew menu?

Yeah but the equipment will stay as is. So no RWR, no FLIR but you get new effects which will be sync with the look of new engine.

What are the current night vision options?...

Ka-50 has NVG and you request groud crew to switch/install it before take off.

Oh, that's a bugger! I just had a night flight and found nothing worked, so that's why.

I think NVGs are broken in 2.5 anyway, I'm hoping it's something else on the fix list.

they work fine here
