David OC Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 (edited) Going to need a bigger map for that one.... 33 miles per minute! Might just need more of a "DCS World" for that one.... Cool video and all is explained by former SR-71 pilot. Buzzles Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Lets have the SR-71... Why do you want one? All it does is go fast and take photos, and we can't do or have any real use for the latter in DCS. At least other single mission planes like the F-117 have an actual combat use in DCS, the SR-71 sadly does not. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!

Xilon_x Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 at this point if you consider sr-71 the fastest plane in the world and also good to consider the Lockheed U-2 which is the plane that goes higher in the world
Vitormouraa Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 at this point if you consider sr-71 the fastest plane in the world and also good to consider the Lockheed U-2 which is the plane that goes higher in the world In service, yes... but SR-71 could go much higher than the U-2. Xilon_x Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 F-117 Sr-71 U-2 are all spy planes in DCS the role of espionage does not exist go into the air and take pictures and a role that is not there.
doldi1989web.de Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 But thats sad. It’s an essential role in combat. You could create a Mission-profile for that easily. The SR 71 and the U2 are Nice planes. I think further to Other recon-Planes. Tornado with spy-Pod for example. You could do high-Alt recon, low-alt recon. Espacially for cold war crisis missions
Weta43 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Don't fancy an SR-71 ? How about a YF-12 ? We could get a long skinny map 4000 km long and 200 km wide so pilots can get a decent intercept profile. Cheers.
Xilon_x Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 the DCS simulator should be completely changed. from plane combat simulator -----> TACTICAL asimulator of marine and terrestrial warfare.
Northstar98 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 No reason why you can't do photographic reconnaissance in DCS, but maybe the SR-71 isn't the most suitable choice owing to it's very high speed - the maps in DCS are just too small to get the full experience. norbot Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 (edited) F-117 Sr-71 U-2 are all spy planes in DCS the role of espionage does not exist go into the air and take pictures and a role that is not there. I cannot agree with you, saying the F-117 is a spy plane. It was made for high precision target bombing with 2 GBUs. Never heard of it having any espionage stuff like high resolution cameras. It's got 2 GBUs and a targeting-laser. Not exactly what you need for espionage. Edited September 17, 2018 by norbot
Lieuie Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 In the multiplayer arena there isn't a role for the Blackbird, although I am sure that if ED decides to create it as a module they will find a way to make it useful. Having said all that I still believe it would be an awsome singleplayer experience as long as there are great campaigns for it. I don't think we are going to see it as a module any time soon however it would be great if at least we got it as an AI unit.
john9001 Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 A fixed wing transport plane would be more useful.
pepin1234 Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 A fixed wing transport plane would be more useful. Ho yeah. With drooped logistic load. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Baco Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 I don´t doubt that it would be a very fascinating experience, but yeah, you need more map, more acurate interface with the atmosphere, and the mission would be closer to a space sim thna a flight sim ;) about that fixed wing transport... Cof C 130, cof , prety please! LOL
jojyrocks Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 SR 71 is not possible...its VERRRY secretive jet. Not gonna get info on that exotic jet.
Oubaas Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 If we're going to do photo recon, I'll take an RA-5C Vigilante. Carrier-based, and you can add BDA runs to mission types.
Evoman Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 If we're going to do photo recon, I'll take an RA-5C Vigilante. Carrier-based, and you can add BDA runs to mission types. I agree, doing photo reconnaissance with either a Vigilante or its predecessor the A-3-2P Skywarrior would make for some far more interesting and fun missions especially operating off aircraft carriers.
