Cobra please don't let a vocal but very TINY minority influence your decision making in this regard. Most simmers are pretty reasonable people and you have one of the most anticipated aircraft modules in development. (Pretty much THE aircraft for many, many people)

The internet by its very nature brings out the worst in people, and behind the wall of anonymity people can and usually go too far in their criticism. Just ignore it and keep doing what you're doing. A lot of us appreciate it.

@onlyfordcs

you are right man....

@cobra

from my side the same. Take your time as you need. I can wait.

If the release will be later in this year there is no world downfall for me.

It seems to be that these people who complained have nothing other as

an computer in their life. Keep up your amazing work. really enjoy the

system detail of F14 Tomcat as I have seen in the Youtube Vids :-)

Wow I spend a few days away from the forum, and it’s gone into meltdown. Now people may call me a white Knight if you want, personally I couldn’t care less. However HB are damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

I’m sure if they wanted to, they could have given us all access to the F14 a few months ago, when the YouTube streamers got it. HOWEVER it wouldn’t be complete, it would be missing some major features, like the Rio seat and I’m guessing would still have a number of bugs. IF they had done that, these very forums would have a meltdown, accuse them of not doing a good job and releasing too early, taking their money for false promises etc etc.

The 2nd option which is the one the6 have gone for, is to wait and make sure the aircraft is as compete as they can make it, get all of the major features implemented and working and the majority of the bugs fixed. Granted I know there will still be some bugs and missing features, but I doubt any will be major, and yet here we are, the forums are having a meltdown, accusing them of not doing a good job, and taking their money for false promises etc etc.

It’s no wonder we see developers stopping development for this platform time and again.

HB has been open from the start, they give frequent updates and are very active interacting with us on the forums. What else do you all want from these guys.

EVERYTHING they have shown, or the you tubers with access has shown has been amazing, and it’s looking like the F14 isn’t going to just be yet another module, but a ground breaking module that will significantly increase the standard in DCS By which modules are judged.

Yes from time to time there has been concerns about features, I myself posted a concern only last week after reading a article about the F14 and the state of the Rio seat. Cobra took the time himself out of his busy period to address that concern, and stated that the article itself was incorrect and we shouldn’t worry. Hell we then had footage of said seat only 48 houtprs later showing it working. Now that’s service.

My personal opinion is HB should take the time to do this correctly, if they miss the 20th so be it, these things happen. I’m after a Experiencing a new ground breaking direction with this module, mainly a fully working Multicrew experience of a complex aircraft.

That has NEVER been done before. Hell hopefully if they pull it off and I’m sure they will, we might finally get the promised Multicrew feature for the Huey and MI8.

Normal it starts to say that the date of March 20 was not a date guaranteed by HB, it starts to do weird stuff.

In any case it is the deadline before the release otherwise it is a refund.

Whenever you enter the arena of selling any type of product to the public you are going to have people complain about any and everything. Its just the nature of things. In taking on a project as complex as this there is going to be many unexpected problems that pop up and need to be addressed. Striving for and also expecting perfection on the release is going to be a Bridge too Far all the way around.

I personally would prefer it just be released as is barring any game Breaking bugs that they may be dealing with that is delaying things. But that is not my call and I have no say in it so I like everyone else will just need to wait until they feel they are ready. However, As an observation . (And I realize and understand that the HB team are probably in over their heads trying to push this thing to release as soon as possible .) at this point they should if there is going to be a lengthy delay it should be communicated exactly what the hold up or ups are that are the cause. I think for those who have already paid for it and are overly exited to the point that impatience has taken over it would alleviate some of that . Anyway, this is just my thoughts and they have little to no importance but just something that some may want to think about.

Do I am the one who has issues to read the initial post or are these the other guys? It is no more in Cobras Hand, I have written these a couple of times already. Cobra is also starring on ED´s decision to finally get rid of the bad feeling not to know when that damn thing will finally be released...why does everyone keep pretending the HB would still be deep within development process?

We’re eager to share with you the launch day of the F-14, pending ED’s final approval. We hope this will happen within the next few days.

lol, the inital post from cobra was clear to understand. They are already feature complete and polishing the Release Candidate Build. But they have some things to do...

So my Message was "Take your Time you need" nothing more.

The level of butt-kissing and coddling from the fanboy brigade in this thread has reached epic proportions. Bravo!

As if to say Heatblur and team are not in this for profit in order to run a successful business, but rather are doing all of this as a big favor to the community; a labor of love, if you will. Give me a break.

Heatblur is selling something for profit and they have accepted money in exchange for its promise to deliver. When you accept money, you enter a contract, which creates certain obligations, both express and implied, including a covenant of good faith and fair dealing. Now, for the record, I have not and am not suggesting that Heatblur has violated any obligation, or breached any obligation to the community, or the customers who have paid for the module. However, it is absolutely offensive and preposterous for members of this community to attack, insult, belittle or ridicule other members of the very same community who have simply asked for specific, unambiguous, non-contradictory information on the status of the module and when it is expected to be released, or those who have expressed frustration over the present state of circumstances.

Those of you who have espoused the, "take all the time you need" philosophy to consumer relations have absolutely no right to dictate to others who have spent money on this module, what to say, what to ask, how to express themselves, or what to expect based on statements that have been made by the development team over a period of years, but more importantly, over the last several months. What gives you the "moral high ground"? You are simply the opposite end of the extreme, and are, therefore, equally annoying and obnoxious.

Everyone who is taking the time to read these threads is obviously committed to a successful release of this module. We literally all want the same damn thing. Some of you are happy to tell HB to "take all the time in the world" to release a perfect, bug-free module. Others, prefer a different approach. Neither group deserves to be ostracized, but it seems to me that those who prefer to grant carte blanche to HB are the only ones casting insults and criticisms. Grow up!

Seriously, if it wasn't for threads like this, and the ceaseless back-and-forth, this subforum would be nearly dead. Think about why that may be...

Chill out people.

I see a lot of people here angry and irritated by the wait.

I understand you, I'm also eagerly awaiting for the mighty Tomcat.

But you must calm down, because if you get so messed up with this, you surelly will have an HEART ATTACK when I shot you down within the first 20 seconds of the merge.

Please remember this:

"... The Navy demands a lot from a pilot: strenght, courage, resilience and above all else, cool under fire.... Now get cracking and hit the books. You've got some work cut out for you. "

So like @Victory205 many times instructed you all, you should be reading the NATOPS (and the released F-14 manual, by the way).

Otherwise, I belive the US NAVY will not want any business with you.

I think the heart attack is much more likely to come before you get the opportunity to shoot them down. It will probably come when they cannot figure out how to start the engines. :pilotfly:

MemphisBelle Take the time between December 21st and March 20th.

When I pre-order I relied on the date given by HB.

After I will not handle the F14 in summer because it's a season where I'm not stuck at home.

So have to stop each of your posts to retrieve the old posts of people you really are a child.

I don't think people are giving a free ride to Heatblur. Is is hard to blame them and ask for the accountability of the money we paid when they did not miss the deadline you signed on when you pre ordered. Of course they are making this for a profit and not for love. That's why they want to release the module more than us hobbiests. And most of the money is made after the release not during pre sale I remember reading from a dev.

Yes there are a few fanboys who would are totally unreasonable and basically saying take my money and I'll wait indefinitely (they are the same who said the exact same things to a failed ex dev). they are nevertheless a minority like on the other side who are ranting already because if a supposed miscommunication.

If you have seen a miscommunication or a vague statement hints about a release date please show me. I'm not aware of any.

I was a little too hot-headed yesterday, re-reading my post. :)

It's important to understand all perspectives, and we will try to take the critique to heart where reasonable.

Hope to share more info as soon as we know what/when!

I haven't noticed any hotheadedness by you or by anyone else for that matter.

I saw it as an usual back and forth, or maybe it is a cultural thing.

Sure, some people did get a little emotional, probably because they care too much.

My guess is that those are the ones that will stick with you even if meteor(pun intended) hits your office and you have to start all over.

I think that yesterday was very productive, and I do believe that issue of ambiguity will be resolved promptly.

I would say that this post would be absolutely valid had Heatblur missed the March 20th (or 21st) release window. However since we are still a month away from that date, and it looks like it is very likely that we will see the EA release before that date I think that right now a lot of complainers are complaining just for the sake of complaining and IMO that's more akin to trolling than anything else.

Have Heatblur missed prior estimates? Yes they have. Have they made a PROMISE to release the F14 on those prior dates? No they havent. However they have promised to release before the end of this winter, so that's really the only thing we can argue about here, and so far there has been no indication from anyone that this date will be missed.

well, I'm gonna butt in here with a question. If none of you guys know the answer hopefully Cobra reads it while he's having a laugh at the route this thread is taking!

Will the F-14 release into early access with a virtual pilot/RIO visible in the cockpit? if not is one planned? This adds a heap of immersion to flying a DCS aircraft in VR, and so far in the videos I've seen there isn't one visible.

It's a screenshot from Jabbers' video of his live stream. RIO is visible, when you are a pilot, and pilot's body is visible when you are a RIO. But if you mean, that you can see your own body, nope, it's not implemented (yet, probably).

Anyone who understands SDLC knows Heatblur is doing it right. YOU DO NOT set firm release dates. You have a focus on quality and the customer. Cobra has been super involved with us and Heatblur has been giving us insight into each new development process. They are doing everything as they should.

May I suggest in the meantime everyone practice up on the F-5.....I mean Min-28 ;)

Excuse me the words here are vague and unclear.

Basically give a fixed date at the end of the range, they can very well say before March 21 that the module will be released June 20 (example).

He is starting to turn things around because the module is just not ready and they are not ready to hold on to their commitment I think.

After we'll see but it starts to stink.

I think you've missed Jarhead's point. Whiners whine, but they're generally easily spotted and ignored. Fanboys are much worse: they seek to accuse anyone with even legitimate criticism of being whiny and aggressive when they're the worst offenders. I believe this hypocrisy is what Jarhead is pointing out.
