F14luvr Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 If only this forum had a like or thumbs-up button! Based on all the stupid posts over the last few days, a thumbs down button would be nice as well.
Q-Ball Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 This thread (and pretty much all of the other release date threads) are a prime example of why devs are loathe to give firm release dates. If only this forum had a like or thumbs-up button! You expect people to hand over money without one? I mean, I pre-ordered with "Winter 2019" as the only guide. Knowing how software projects tend to go, I set my expectations low (i.e. end of March). But Cobra tried to be optimistic and said they were shooting for December. Then they didn't make December (something about the RIO pit not syncing with the pilot, IIRC) and the pitchforks come out. :protest: I'll be disappointed if they miss the March release, but if HB feels confident enough to put a RC into ED's hands for final GO/NO-GO (insert "Master Test" joke here), then a release is imminent, barring no show-stopping bugs. If HB is testing with Not At All Two Squadrons of Tomcats, then it seems like they are pretty confident in the module's stability. But if they said Feb 27th (which unfortunately, doesn't look like that's happening now) and things fell through, there'd be a(nother) riot. :chair:

I can't blame them. The only thing worse right now than no date would be missing a date and lying. We're the ones at fault here with our crack-like fiending.

The only thing worse right now than no date would be missing a date and lying. We're the ones at fault here with our crack-like fiending. Absolutely agreed. We have been waiting for months now, some of us for years. Let's just keep it together for another three weeks at worst.

Swordsman422 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Call me crazy, but the planned F-14B campaign in the Caucasus map seems like they are taking some inspiration from USNF. If I had to choose between the two, I liked Fleet Defender better.

The F-14 launches with an in-depth simulation of the LANTIRN TGP!" How can they release this week when there still working on the tgp???? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Dudikoff Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 (edited) Call me crazy, but the planned F-14B campaign in the Caucasus map seems like they are taking some inspiration from USNF. If I had to choose between the two, I liked Fleet Defender better. Given that one was an F-14 study flight-sim and the other an action flight-sim game pretty much, I wouldn't even mention them in the same context. Still have the FD installed on some portable laptop (and the Tornado), while I could never get into those USNF/ATF/USAF games with their generic system modeling, weird physics and arcade gameplay. Though, I was surprised to read they were released in the same year, also thought the USNF was released a few years later. Always felt it's a shame Microprose didn't merge some of the FD features to their earlier F-15 SE3. The systems modeling there was quite decent, but the game world was empty (i.e. no wingmen or civilian or friendly flights) apart from a few scrambled interceptors. With a wingman, squadron management and some friendly support flights, plus some enemy groups to encounter, it could have been a much better sim. StandingCow Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 I was a little too hot-headed yesterday, re-reading my post. :) It's important to understand all perspectives, and we will try to take the critique to heart where reasonable. Hope to share more info as soon as we know what/when! Dude, I think out of all devs you are the most cool headed one out there. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo
