Sebastian on MRTV in the beginning kept saying 140 FOV on the Reverb and how HP was not being honest. lol

For some people there is a direct relationship between VR FOV and sense of motion sickness. Be careful what you wish for.

Ahh yeah you're right. Looked up my source again and it clearly says 114.. I must have read what I wanted to read

It was mainly the 140fov that triggered me as I'm not so enthousiastic about the narrow view in the cv1.

Thanks for your answers Harlikwin

So does everyone have a lot of Mura . I tried my replacement last night and the mura seems almost worse than the first one, but I could be wrong as it was really bad on that one too. I see it big time in the sky at WMR home, but on the solid color walls in the "Lab" game too.

I guess it's Mura I'm seeing? It's not really patches of cloudiness or smudges that I see. It's the non uniformity of the pixels that appear to follow my movement across a solid area. Like a random unorganized pixel pattern that stays in front of my eyes as a move my head.

Yup, thats Mura. And yes I see it too if I look for it, specifically in the WMR home with the white walls.

If you also looks for it you can see both the mura and really really fine SDE.

That being said, playing DCS, I don't see either one.

Please forgive me for being slightly lazy, as this has probably been asked before in one of the 300 pages of this thread :D

How will the HP Reverb compare with my Rift cv1, considering my system specs? (see my signature)

I mean, I know the Reverb has a much higher resolution, better collors (black) and a bigger fov. But to enjoy these advantages I assume I'll have to drastically lower my DCS ingame settings. Maybe to a point that my cv1 would actually be better suited for my system. I'm just guessing here of course.

My specs, for now, are weaker than yours: I5 8600, GTX 1070. I have to reduce settings with Reverb to get playable frame rates, but EVEN SO, Reverb graphics are FAR superior to CV1. To me the video resolution appears similar to viewing 27" 1920x1080 monitor from about 24".

Posted
I think you might be confusing the reverb with the Index, or the RiftS.

RiftS colors are reported to be close to the CV1 by several users.

Valve Index FOV is 140 degrees. (reverb is reported to be 114, while the rift IIRC was 110)

Reverb's blacks are Fine though. It looks great in EliteDangerous in fact. But in DCS the color palate is noticeably "flatter" and more washed out.

Neither the RiftS or the Index resolution is anywhere close to the Reverb, but both are improved over the CV1.

In the following test Index is H: 110° x V: 100°

So maybe 140° in diagonal, but I think it's a misleading metric

I think the reverb might be 114 diagonal. At any rate the index has been reported by various users to be bigger.

You need WMR for steam VR. Not just steam VR.

So, first start the windows app (wmr), then start steam vr and make sure you see the steam cliff house in Vr. Then open dcs, go to settings, vr and apply vr. You’ll have to exit the game and restart for it to take effect. Had some of the same issues before I did understand VR.

Is anyone using Project Lasso with the Reverb? And does it help? My performance is decent but as all of us looking for better. Have Steam SS at 100% and MSAA off on my Titan RTX. My GPU memory only at like 9 gb but is I try and push the SS or MSAA higher my framtime tanks out. CPU frametime seems ok. Is view distance CPU or GPU bound?

Thanks Jason

If you want better visuals, I would use the steamVR SS settings not DCS, it seems to work better in my experience. I do have MSAAx2 on.

Yup.

Though my cable "fix" is currently holding, but experience with these sorts of "fixes" is that they work for a while and then fail catastrophically.

I haven't found a need to push SS beyond 100% or to push PD in DCS beyond 1.0. Pushing either one much above that causes your performance to drop dramatically, and I had no discernible difference in visual quality. Definitely use MSAA X2 to get rid of jaggies. Pushing PD or SS up to get rid of that isn't as effective as MSAA on the Reverb.

Hey all.

Apologies, but I did not read through every post.. I am looking to buy the HP Reverb Pro from Amazon. How would I know its the generation 2 or not? Shouldn't all Reverbs, sold now, be "fixed"?

Got mine yesterday from HP, has the 931 serial number. Just got back in town so haven't had a chance to test it out much yet. Also I'm not a DCS player, only IL-2, but this forum is much more informative on the Reverb.

Came with the clip, I played for about 30 minutes with no issues and my room temp was close to 80 deg with a fan blowing from the side.
