Hellcat Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I agree with you. I've never felt it was relating to USB power, as I had mine directly connected to a powered USB port, and that made no difference. You could be right about the heat thing as well, as I experienced a lot of heat at times, and I didn't relate it to the flickering at the time, but maybe it was. I'm also a little surprised about the whole cable clip thing working for some, as it's a click connector which didn't seem to have any play in it that I could see. Glad it's working though for some people. I saw the powered usb hub seemed to work for some but not most that's why I thought I'd try this As a last resort if that doesn't do it it's definitely not a port issue IMHO.... https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Superspeed-Ports-PCI-Expansion/dp/B00FPIMICA/ref=sr_1_3?crid=X828WWQ161YS&keywords=pci+usb+3.0+card+internal&qid=1561042778&s=gateway&sprefix=pci+usb+%2Caps%2C264&sr=8-3 i7-9700K @ 5.0 l MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Plus MB l 32GB DDR4 2400 Ram l Sabrent Rocket Q 1TB M.2 l EVGA 3080 FTW l Win10 Pro l WarBRD/Warthog Hotas l VKB MkIV rudder Pedals l Reverb G2

hansangb Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Ok guys - Shopblt gave me my Fedex tracking number and the headset is *supposed* to be here tomorrow.... I hope it shows... Based on the earlier posts by the august body on this thread, 188% seems to work well in Steam for SS with PD @ 1.0 I'm going to leave my other settings alone and give that a whirl. I guess I'll also try the zip tie method on the mondo cable to keep the connection tight. Any further suggestions? Do you have any of the badge holder/clip? I use that to clip the cable to my shirt and the HMD is free of any pulling. hansangb Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I see people going on about 90fps and it totally astonishes me! My system is very similar to yours, and I get a steady 45fps with Motion Smoothing and maybe around 50-55 without it. That was on the Reverb and my Vive Pro. What are your settings? SteamVR SS, PD, MSAA, shadows etc.? SteamVR at 188%. No other changes. In fact, I didn't even change the Nvdia control panel. Normally I set the slider to "performance" I haven't enabled WMR motion smoothing. I'm not even sure if SteamVR has it? But the only thing I changed in SteamVR was 188%. DCS PD at 1.0. Also, I do run at 5.1Ghz and we're at the same CPU/GPU level. fearlessfrog Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 .. I haven't enabled WMR motion smoothing. I'm not even sure if SteamVR has it? .. WMR doesn't use SteamVR motion smoothing or reprojection, as that's in the driver side (same with Oculus if it uses SteamVR). WMR has two forms of reprojection, a simple rotational one that is always on and the opt-in 'motion temporal reprojection' (which is the closest WMR has to the Oculus ASW like method). The WMR motion reprojection needs about 55-60 fps to work properly (it is less efficient that either SteamVR's motion smoothing or Oculus's ASW) but when on works well. So it seems the best ‘tuning’ algorithm for WMR and using reprojection in DCS would be: 1. Go to the default.vsettings file and comment out (using //) the motion line, i.e. turn it OFF (if not already off). 2. Test DCS with your settings. Adjust them so you get to 55 to 60 fps with the resolution / super sampling you want, say 188% on Reverb, 212% on Odyssey etc. 3. Go back to default.vrsettings and uncomment the line (remove the //) so it says “motionReprojectionMode” : “auto”, in there. That way you’ll get smooth tree sideways and the fancy reprojection working properly. BluFinBima Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 UK HP Rep said that they won't be stocking the consumer unit - only the pro - and they have a large number of corporate orders depleting their expected stock delivery. sze5003 Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Yea this makes sense. Corporate orders from companies that make orders internally, deplete the stock before they have any left to sell to the public. Secoda Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 (edited) Sorry just saw this. The Huey instrument panel is just like my homebuilt airplane was. A piece of painted aluminum sheeting with holes cutout for the gauges, switches, etc.. The face of the gauges stick out a bit and they typically have a bolt in each corner. The gauges look like the real McCoys. Nothing fancy but functional. The appearance and clarity with the Reverb is excellent. I forgot to mention when I spoke to the HP Tech person a few days ago (just to find out what was up from the horses mouth) he said to be sure the cable was secure on both ends (of course we aren't jumping around too much on a sim). I zip tied the cable near my computer so the connectors there can't be tugged on as I did to the headset strap on both sides of the connector. I have seen no problems but I don't want to start. I did a few marathon sessions over three hours and didn't notice any change for that length of a time. One was today. Three hours bobbling around in a Huey is a long time. It's not smooth and steady like the F-18. :D I am a Reverb Happy Camper! Huey is one of my favorites. But I can't wait for the cockpit texture update so it's on par with F/A-18. It's so flat, isn't it? A10C has the same texture issue and that's getting an update. I don't remember if Huey is in line for a texture update.
