Why not consider assigning more programmers to the F/ a-18c team? Now F/ a-18c has no TAG no A/G radar it can only be called F 18C.

What's the point of voting for the feature we've been waiting for the most? Please do not let our expectations become a joke, let more and more waiting to consume our enthusiasm.

Please give us a reasonable explanation

If it is to see from the beginning, today the 18 'already has 120', 9x, Mavs, GBUs, HARMs, Data link ... At first it was just Sparrow, 9M and no IFF. You can work unhurriedly. We understand;)

It' not all about spamming coders at a problem mojiao

This is possibly some of the hardest things you can code for a sim/game. These guy's work in close nit teams and know and swimming in everything F18 (bugs and all) for the last few years. I don't think throwing more coders would help move things forward and perhaps even slow things down for quite a while.

Nice thing with early Access is that new features come with pace, that gives you time to train with new things for a while, until next new thing comes out.

If module come out in complete, it takes a lot of will to train one feature at the time.

But your benefit is that you get to choose from all features you want to use....

The ground radar is not just for hornet, it is for everyone. It is changing how does FLIR and all work.

It might even change everything in radars and graphics engine.

Hey, welcome to the forum.

It's always difficult to answer such questions if one is not a product manager so this is just my opinion.

For as complex product that DCS Hornet is, it is not always easy to employ people who have got the expertise and skills required. Then again if you find somebody who fits perfectly, the company must consider the costs involved.

On top of that you have got usual rotation that adds to the costs, people simply leave and to replace them it takes time, effort and again, money.

Wags (product manager) said once ED has lost the original coder for A2G radar, which has since been replaced, this is only one example how the project can slow down considerably.

Brace yourself, ED is moving to a monthly Hornet updates now, so this particular module will see a slow down in terms of updates.

Can see the thread being closed, I can understand both sides of the argument here, the birds been in EA now for a year or so.. and while yes it's improved some times you have to wonder about the speed of the updates given how long the modules 'meant' to have been in the works.

On the other hand the programmer me understands that well stuff happens and delays happen, some times code has to be rewritten from scratch, some times you have to go back and fix bugs that creep in other times you have to rewrite sections to allow for other sections.

The only part I don't really get is why ED doesn't have a public bug tracker and open roadmap for the project rather then the current method, as a public bug tracker would allow people to actually look at reported bugs, the status etc rather then having to guess around if a forum post from a year ago is relevant today etc.. and a roadmap would mean that a lot of the questions about 'when is this feature coming' would be answered instantly as you could SEE the progress etc.

It's also understandable why some people are wondering what is going on as well, I mean they look at some of the other products and go 'well why can they give basically a finished bird for EA but ED can't?' which is a valid question however you have to stop and remember ED also have to maintain the core simulation platform.

Still it'd be nice to hear what is going on with the AGR and the like, it'd be nice to hear when the flare count will be fixed or when the ALE-67 master arm 'bug' is gonna be corrected (it shouldn't be tied to the master arm, that's what the dispensor switch and the stby mode are for). etc..

But... every time Wag's has given dates etc in the past people hold them like their stone and that again bites ED and Wags in the rear.. because stuff happens.. it's kinda a No Win Sit for ED and Wags as a whole, they are damned if they do and they are damned if they don't.. no one's ever gonna be happy.

The one thing I can't say I'm happy with is the move to monthly updates on the other hand if it means we might see things like the VR performance enhancements promised in DEC etc then ...

While waiting I'd recommend reading a book:

As to why assigning more developers not necessarily deliver a product sooner.

Why always more and faster?

I do understand that implementing new features requires research and a lot of coding. I do not want so many things... at least not that quick, the damn F14 is work enough! But what I want is less bugs after an update. Maybe assign a betatesters team which checks out the hornet during the update, so you guys can set some people to iron out the bugs as fast as possible. For my part, I don't fly the hornet atm - because of problems

- with the bombs and laserguided ammunition

- the Mavericks not arming properly after reloading

- the alignment not working

- the radar only working sporadically

- the hud beeing stuck

And I'm sure there are other problems available. So, this is what needs fixing before throwing more content at me.

Considering the times where new features added to the FA-18 did not work properly or the community asked questiones like "It took me 30sec to find this bug, what are the testers doing?" - i personally welcome this move and hope to see an increase in quality over quantity

I noticed that radar issue also...Many times when Im flying against MiGs, Im in same attitude like bandits, but my radar doesn't see them and I can't lock them. So older MiGs easily wins...
