Hey guys! This texture stuff is exactly what I've been looking for.

How do you edit scenery textures?

 

Would it be possible to modify an airfield and add a FCLP (authentic) in conjunction with

the meatball mod? Hell even without the lights would be awesome.

 

SERIOUSLY GUYS its been too long a wait for a dedicated FCLP in DCS.

In the Persian Gulf I've got my eye on Al Minhad as a great site for a FCLP box/IFLOLS.

Just saying. I've got a background in graphics if that helps!

The package is JSGME ready, so just unpack it into your JSGME folder and activate the mod. I hope you'll like it. Remember tho - these are SUMMER textures, so make sure you set summer months in the mission editor.

Out of all the ground texture mods out there, this is by far my favourite.

 

The blending is superb!

Especially how the airfields blend in with the rest of the terrain.

I also like that you have kept a similar natural feel whit the stock textures so that your mod feels like it belongs with the sim.

 

 

SimpleOnlayArraySummer: border_4.tif and border_8.tif have always seemed a little wide and uglyly to me even in the stock textures.

Is there any way you could work your magic to narrow them down slightly or make them blend a little better?

Fields are my favorite part of this pack. I just wish the saturation was toned down just a tad. And the trees seem a bit darker than the default. Is that part of the change? It looks great during clear day but trees seems to stick out more in a fog. Anyway, love the mod.

 

Edit: Please disregard this ignorant comment. While researching to do my own trees, I realized they're supposed to be dark. I guess I was used to default faded trees. It's just shame they stick out in the fog but that's the engine issue, not this mod. Fantastic work.

I (still) prefer your earlier spring (vivid green) textures for spring.

Moreover: I think you should add some vivid-yellow field textures too (for blooming colza/rapeseed fields), just like in your first, few years old GTM texture-fields mods. :thumbup:

Some early preview shots of spring. I am not happy with the current colour balance, so what you see here is surely not the final version. It will require more testing.

There's difference between photo realism and realism. Photo real is what you'd see through a camera. Real is what you see with your own eyes. And latter usually has much more vivid color. Depth of field, motion blur, vignette.... are all photo effects. Games, especially in VR should strive for realism instead of photo realism. But if you take those effects out of screenshots, many people criticize for not being realistic.

 

I'm VR content developer and I run into this all the time with my clients. I send them screenshots from my development and they say it doesn't look real enough. But when I put them in VR, they're convinced.

 

But photo real is what most people are used to because they see them on their phones and computers. FS 2020 for example have very dull colors which is understandable because its terrain are built from satellite "photos" And people are impressed by it's "photo realism".

 

I made my trees less colorful because that seems to be the "trend" but in reality they should be much more colorful.

 

Bottom line is that I love your terrain mod for its colors. It's definitely different than others who strive for more neutral tone. Giving us more options.

Barthek, I have this thread bookmarked.

I like the refreshing colours your textures are bringing to Caucasus. Currently, I have all the Caucasus mods I can find installed in my OvGME. I just switch them out when I am in a different mood or when an EXCITING update, like yours, comes along.
