razo+r Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 2016 was supposed to be the great year for the Carriers in DCSW. But well, obvious question. 2016 passed and then kind of complete silence until now. What was the reason for the 3 years of "Delay" that happened to this planned release? Did the addition of the ground crew do this or what happened?
rrohde Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Everything is subject to change, and ED decided to give us a lot more with the inclusion of a fully motion-captured carrier deck crew, and new carrier ATC - recorded from scratch. And most likely other options that include various, playable positions on the boat, etc. PC: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | MSI Suprim GeForce 3090 TI | ASUS Prime X570-P | 128GB DDR4 3600 RAM | 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD | Win10 Pro 64bit Gear: HP Reverb G2 | JetPad FSE | VKB Gunfighter Pro Mk.III w/ MCG Ultimate VKBcontrollers.com
Rudel_chw Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I fail to see the usefulness of this type of threads .. what will it acomplish? To me, the Supercarrier doesnt make sense if it cames before having carrier capable aircrafts, so it is a natural that ED should have to bring out the Hornet first, leaving the carrier postponed until the Hornet reaches maturity. MegOhm_SD Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) But we know “Everything is Subject to Change” What difference does it make now? This is true of many things with some we have been given reasons, some we have not. Nothing it seems pleases the few or even the many. With from where we have come to todays state of the only decent Sim and its endeavors, it is easy to second guess the reasons for protracted development. On the other hand we could and should appreciate and enjoy what we have while looking forward to future features and enhancements that will improve our experience. Clouds anyone? Damage model? Vulcan? Maps? VR optimization? Etc. etc. I enjoy and appreciate what we have but at the same time wish for these things to come. But this is an evolving Sim. Which means it is ever evolving and some things will always be years out. Its just the way it is and will be a perpetual thing. As hard as it is, Patience is a virtue for our evolving DCS. This is easy to understand for an old time simmer like me who came from Atari B-52 Bomber and everything in between to here. I have been waiting over 20+ years for what ED has brought and is bringing us! Maybe we need a dedicated thread for impatience instead of cluttering every module sub forum with questions and opinions of when will I get my gizmos to make my world perfect. We decided to put in the extra time and money to create something special. The deck crew and full carrier comms were greatly expanded. Thanks Thanks! But maybe for future cases like this here. I think the whole community would appreciate it, if a bit more communication would have been made. Like for example: We reached our goal, but decided to add more detail to it and thus will come a bit later. Of course you don't owe us any explanation at all, but as I wrote, it would have been appreciated.

razo+r Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) If you mean this year, yes you did. But not in 2016, and I've checked those newsletters until the end of 2017. Edit: Somewhere in 2017 you said the Kutznetsov is in development and showed us pics. Then the next date was christmas 2017, telling us you plan to bring it in 2018. So yeah, I guess you did tell us it's coming later. At least something. Edited December 9, 2019 by razo+r

Mars Exulte Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 Over the last few years the devs adopted a radio silent attitude because of the community's predilection for going full retard at the drop of a hat. They have recently started coming out of their shell again as they have more stuff to show and talk about. Let's not scare them off again by being anal retentive. wernst Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 It will clear potential customers questions and can give a vague approximation about the future. "2016 was supposed to be the great year for the Carriers in DCSW". This was a vague approximation about the future. It clarifies potential customers questions as fully as vague approximations can clarify. What's the problem here? I'm happy that ED finally made it.
Flamin_Squirrel Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Over the last few years the devs adopted a radio silent attitude because of the community's predilection for going full retard at the drop of a hat. They have recently started coming out of their shell again as they have more stuff to show and talk about. Let's not scare them off again by being anal retentive. Most of the occasions of the community going 'full retard' I've seen have been due to a lack of information, not an excess.
