Why the delay in the DCS annoucement?

This questions has been raised several places, so I thought I'd address it here:

 

The idea was bounced around about this time last year after it became clear there was more then enough new content and changes for a new product line. Also, we wanted to change the focus from survey to study. For the next six months we evaluated the idea but did not want to say anything until we were 100% certain of the new plan. To announce the change and then switch back again would have been even worse. This Spring we made the decision and informed the beta team two weeks prior to making the announcement. However, it was then decided that Eagle needed a new product line web site. That took much longer than expected to put together. At the same time, the then server provider was terrible and we wanted to switch to a new service to host the new site. That also took much longer than expected. Once the decision was made, we had the web site ready and the new servers ready, we went live. That point was only reached in the last few days. No crazy conspiracy of any sorts, it just took a while to make the final decision and the get the tools in place.

I think that was a wise decision, there is a huge gap from the details available in the Lock On series (which IMO is great) to a dedicated study sim. I look forward to follow ED/TFC's work in the times ahead.

I will be an enthusiastic BS FAN , I´m sure about that, but I wouldn´t like to see my FC copy like and old item on my desk. I would like to see both simulators active in my Virtual Squadron (Cruz de San Andres).

I have an example. FALCON is still ALIVE. It´s only a matter of supporting developers, I´m sure you will find the way and I´m sure you DO WANT to find that way.

FC was a internal published addon and not with you know who so i think they will still update it with patchs and stuff...
