It's an attempt to bring balance. Blue gets so much more love on the high fidelity side of modules by ed and 3rd party devs...

But don't take my word for it. Just try it out as red on a unrestricted server and get your butt served to you

It doesn't exist - ED designated the ship launched Harpoon as AGM-84S when it should be RGM-84x. The missile has a pretty outdated model so I'm hoping that it'll get correct when/if that happens.

 

The A in AGM means air-launched and there is no such thing as an -84S Harpoon.

Find your main DCS World installation folder -> bin -> modelviewer2.exe

 

From there you can load a model, most are found under Bazar -> World -> Shapes

 

Others can be found in CoreMods -> xxxx -> yyyy -> Shapes

Must've been taken out with 2.5.6, it's still here on the 2.5.5 stable, as is the scores of models not yet implemented.

It still exists in 2.5.6. If you enable it within the FA-18C.lua, for example, you can load it to the aircraft and it shows up on the wing normally and even in the STORES page, as SLMR. You can't do much with it though.

Hmm, could someone try searching for "agm-84h.EDM" in the base DCS World installation folder it could be that the model got moved if it's still present, in which case they probably just changed the file structure.

Not really, most PVP servers try to strike some balance between red/blue. The JF-17 already has SLAMMERS, and they aren't banned most places. Then again, its the only vaguely modern "red" jet. I bet most PVE servers keep them, or possibly implement weapon limits on them.

 

honestly having used them, they are "boring". Fly to release point, shoot, orbit, wait, orbit, wait etc. Then at some point x minutes later, the missile turns on and you have a few seconds to target something, and you miss a fair amount of the time.

Kinda agree, I see limited use, but because we have thinks like perfect intel, target coordinates and we don't have INS drift. So right now, the whole MITL thing is kinda pointless. Still cool though.
