Yes. The soldering process for the 8-pin mini din was a PITA. (I have several failure videos to prove it) I realized that someone with less than a mastery skill would not be able to do it. So I had to try a couple of different methods (and wait for parts) till I hit on one that anyone could do. I am average at soldering and I can solder up the whole connector in less than 10 minutes. I will have the last part of the base assembly video up tomorrow.

I also felt that the hat switch needed to be simplified. I found the perfect replacement but had to do a slight redesign the Huey head in order to make the video with the new switch. It should be finished printing tomorrow and I will start the Huey head assembly video.

Sorry it’s been slow going but I’ve been crazy busy at work these past few weeks. Nothing like working 8 hours a day in a 100f+ degree shop to suck the life out of a person.

Just watched the assembly videos on youtube, fantastic product and solution. Please let me know when you have them available, I fly the Mi-8 at the moment but any of the versions you make would be of interest.

Awesome job. Do you have a lmk plans to uploaded the stl files and add a parts list. I’d love to print and start the assembly process.

thank you for the hard work.

I second this statement! I would love to purchase the stl files from you. Of course, it would be to only make my own setup and not try to sell them to others because I'm not a scumbag 👍

Hi John,

Just wondered what happened to this project in the end? Were any prototypes or kits produced? I’m not in the US but I’d like to print the parts and build my own. Unfortunately the parts list doesn’t include any info on the spring, aluminium tube or the bearings, which I’d have to source locally. Any further info (or the possibility of a hardware kit) would be really useful. Many thanks.

Thanks...anyone ID the spring yet?  I have all the parts printed and my own plan for the electronics (i.e. FreeJoy and custom shift registers),  but without that spring its a no go.

Hi,

I would like to thank the author @Thick8 for creating such a precise collective.

The kit is very cleverly designed and can be downloaded for free.

I followed the construction video instructions the whole time and everything fit with German precision. 👍

I will add photos of my fixed Kiowa head, which is equipped with MJ16 electronics.

Good Morning,

This is a REALLY well thought out collective. I've had zero issues with the fit, finish or assembly. I built one for a friend who has no interest in changing the heads. So I modified the base to hold a Leo Bodnar BU0836A. If anyone would like the stl for the base and the cover just let me know.
