ouseler Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 I have been experiencing random pauses during gameplay and it has been driving me crazy. I have just read on the EVGA forum that the new NVidia Hotfix 451.85 "Might cause random pauses up to a couple seconds during game play in some games" Well, I am experiencing this very thing and have been pulling my hair out trying to troubleshoot it. Can someone tell what is a stable Nvidia driver version for DCS? Mustang Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 (edited) GeForce 451.85 hotfix driver here - the change note fix 'Some games may exhibit random freezes that lasts for a few seconds during gameplay.' was a deciding factor. https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/geforce-451-85-hotfix-driver-download.html Edited August 5, 2020 by Mustang
ouseler Posted August 4, 2020 Author Posted August 4, 2020 Thanks guys. I suppose the GPU drivers aren't the problem. System Specs: AMD 5950X (liquid-cooled), Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Pro Motherboard, 32 GB RAM DDR4 3200MHz, Samsung Evo 970 Plus 2 TB, Seagate 2TB SSD, Geforce RTX 4080 GPU, Rosewill Glacier 1000W Power Supply, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (Stick, Throttle), Thrustmaster TPR Rudder Pedals, NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 w/ProClip, (1) Vizio 40" 4K Monitor, TPLink Dual Band Wireless Card, Window 11 OS

splash Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 451.67. No problems so far. I've just installed 451.85 (and standard instead of DCH as previous) and no differences.
Gierasimov Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 (edited) The best driver is the one that works for you. I have seen some drivers to cause issues for some people, I once had to revert driver update due to performance loss. ED seem to always recommend 'latest' but that is not always good. Also, nVidia drivers updates are often related to tighter security and that alone can cause issues. My rule is don't fix something that ain't broken... but considering other games, workloads and security concerns. That said, I am on the latest available today (451.67) No problems. If you tell your AV software to ignore the DCS directory, the pauses will likely go away.
Chris P Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I found that finally moving DCS to a SSD got rid of my little intermittent pauses. Chris P 'Nascar' Raleigh NC [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
