I've observed those micro-artefacts as well. It seems that they are appearing only during a few single frames. I'm tryin' to reproduce the issue.

I will try ,but it will depend on how big the file is as to whether or not it gets uploaded(anything I 've recorded in the past has been 2 gig's or more)...Also I just installed a new driver, so I'll test that as well.

Interestingly enough...just flew the same mission but switched from "use application settings" to "application override" with anti Aliasing "enhanced 2EQ"  and no black spots appeared.

you sure its gone? the amd configuration screen says this option has impact only on directx9 programs, which dcs is not.

i tried it myself regardless and the black spots are still present for me.

Not sure its gone...just saying that I didn't see any spots when flying the same mission in that config. But, I also just flew a black shark mission as well and no black spots either so.....hmmm

I'm afraid, the issue (with the giant black boxes) is still there or back again. It occured during a custom F-16C caucasus mission in the dawn. I've tried to reproduce but had no success so far.

Here are the key settings while the issue occured:

• DCS Version: current OB (2.7.10.19473)
• Mission date/time: 04th May 2016, 05:56:34
• Clouds: Light Scattered 2
• Plane: F-16C Viper
• Position: N 42"38'11 / E 041"55'52
• Alt: 6046 ft
• Heading: 242

I'll hand a track in as soon as I'm able to reproduce.

Thanks! I was able to reproduce the bug after 5 seconds or so. Curiously, the black screen does not happen at the very same moment when I run the replay, but it is definitely there.

I've just found out something interesting: you need to restart DCS to find the bug back, at least with replays.

That's really strange but explains, why I wasn't able to reproduce the bug immideately after flyin' the mission.

I've started DCS and watched your replay four times within one DCS session. The results:

1. bug was present
2. no issues
3. bug was present
4. no issues

BTW: installed GPU = RTX 2080 SUPER, Driver version = nVidia 511.23

Have a friend who I think was having this issue in front seat of the Apache yesterday. 

 

I don't have any tracks or video to offer as he's just casually getting back into dcs and not really up for spending time to troubleshoot and repro, as he's just looking to gun w me a bit in the apache. 

 

Mission was at airfield just south of the Crimea region. Mid October, a little after 7AM, which was around sunrise-ish. 

 

He could look behind at me and see me ok, but generally looking forward or off to the side he would get a black screen, where he could basically only see the vehicle labels (in this case, red dots). 

 

This would happen after a few minutes, generally, and wouldnt go away after that. He could get glimpses of the screen depending on where he looked.

 

I didn't have the issue myself from the pilot seat. Will see if I can test a different time of day w him at some point to see if that has an impact.

Based on what he described to me, I'd say yes. Up to and including still being able to see ui text (in his case the chat) and aircraft labels. 

 

His seemed perhaps more persistent once it started occurring, however.

Sadly the issue is still present in the current OB (2.7.12.23362).

Setup: Syria, F/A-18C, SC (self made training mission for ACLS)
Log: 01 dcs.log
Track: 01 SY FA-18C GraphicsIssueDusk.trk

In contrast to my previous observations the black boxes didn't disappear in the recorded flight by looking left/right within the cockpit view. Only switching to an external view resolved the problem.

Hopefully ED is able to repoduce and fix this annoying issue someday...

I coudln't see the issue with your track (yes, I saw your head moving like crazy at 20:00:20 ). However, I've just tried my previous track again, and I can reproduce the issue, indeed.

The bug report is still alive, but there was no progress these last few months.

Thanks for your support @Flappie. I've updated my nVidia drivers in the meantime from 512.15 to 512.59 and watched the track again right now within a fresh DCS session. I was able to reproduce the bug, but this time it didn't have such a massive impact as yesterday (origin of the track): the boxes appeared only for ~1 second, yesterday they filled about 95 % of the screen and were present until I changed the view from cockpit to external (F2).

It's very sad that this issue exists. Due to the great visual effects I like to fly missions during dawn or dusk, but this bug appears exclusively in those time frames.
