Gonna get the russian version, even though I dont know the language. I dont know about you, but pressing every button till I figure out what does what is fun for me :D.

I'm thinking of getting it... once we get English manual available for download I guess I can learn from there... cockpit gauges and labels are in russian and I like that (for authenticity) so just learning what's what might be suficient, if not by that time I think english version might be out... now I don't know what option to vote for :)

but keep in mind that we dont know if russian version will work with future western products. this means that maybe when a10 will be out you will still have to buy the russian version

LOL :-) That reminded me of the thing about

"If you lock a bunch of monkeys in a room with a typewriter & wait long enough eventually they'll type out King Lear."

 

There's a lot of buttons in that cockpit, & a lot of commands that you might want to map to your HOTAS etc. All in Russian.

Do-able in a foreign laguage, but easier in your own...

I will wait for the western release. It gives me time to play other games, that will settle some dust after the release of BS and I can hopefully study the manual and set up a few panels, so I'm ready to go, one BS is released in a language that I can understand. :smilewink:

They say life is but an adventure. So I guess flying the KA in Russian when I neither speak or read Russian must constitute a serious adventure.

 

The flip side of course is I will buy both and by doing so support future DCS products. Lets be honest there are not many companies out there producing this level of fidelity in a flight sim that i can think of?

LMAO, that would be an interesting to see... I would understand post Soviet countries buys Russian version and some other countries who's language is from the same group of languages as Russian and shares some similarities and yet this is not the story about "Red Heat" this is most complicated military helicopter sim for today! So, I mean, good luck for everyone who is planing to learn Russian starting with technical Russian, like Kamov Ka-50 "Black Shark" flight manual...

Step one: Setting up the controls ... And one other thing, even if you'll move to live to Russia, the place where the language is spoken, it would take something between a 6 months to a year to start understand basics... Good luck!

Wags: Although the game will be completed in 2008, it may not be available for purchase until early 2009.

I will wait for the english version as my russian language skills at the time being is limited to "da", "niet", "privet", "spaciba", "brat"... Thats about it. Maybe "da" and "niet" comes handy in BS, but i doubt it.

 

I will however support ED by buying all modules even though some modules arent on the top of my list. This level of realism will make any vehicle fun though. :)

If so as its a third party mod, would ED let them put it up on say cough...LockOnFiles..cough..cough :music_whistling:

If I could download the english modules and patch over the Russian version when the English version is released, absolutely. I'm all for authenticity, but in an authentic world, in an authentic KA-50, I'd be an authentic Russian ;)

I think the manual, BS demo and LO:FC should keep me busy enough for 90 days.

 

Anyone remember the Lockon demo?? Some clever people figured out how to make missions for it.. and the missions were pretty good too. Hopefully we'll be able to do the same thing for the BS demo.
