The F-14 only got the targeting pod from the LANTIRN system not the navigation pod.

I think it ended up being called the LANTIRN Targeting System once modified for the F-14

There is a command on Lantirn where you slave it to HUD, ive used several times as navigation pod doing this.

Does anyone know, can the LANTIRN handle move? Or is it motionless?

AFAIK it's immobile, you move the pod around with something like a trim hat on the stick.

HB's manual says its completely static.

It's static. The pod is being slewed by a slew hat on the stick.

I wish there would at least be an F-14D mod so we can use JDAMs on the kitty (unfortunately, specs on the APG-71, which is the D's radar, are still classified so it'll be a while before we get a F-14D from heatblur.)

there is slight chance for HB making F-14B(U) variant with upgraded nav system, DFCS, HUD and JDAM capability (and other stuff). But still some docs are missing.

On question how stick works i have this gif from some cruise video,

I mean, JADAMS are swell for hitting a target, but at what point does it stop being something to do and just become an automated self playing game? Or an RTS not a sim? Because modern munitions are basically robots that do everything themselves.

Not necessarilly.

Sure I could give you the exact target coordinates, you fly to the basket, drop the bombs then back home for tea and medals, and yeah, you'd be right.

But next time we don't have the exact coordinates, we have a general area we know the target is in. The enemy have a medium range SAM that is going to deny or at least restrict medium-high altitude delivery; low level SHORAD so you can't just scoot in low and visually acquire, and cloud cover to restrict the ability to search with a targeting pod at longer ranges. The challenge now is no longer weapons employment but instead in finding the targets and finding a good attack window which minimises your exposure to the threats.

That sounds fun to me.

Sounds like a job for Tomahawks to me. Or their newer descendants.

CAS/JTAC. What targets to prioritize? Do you need to hit multiple in one pass, or just one? Do you need to do a show of force first? Is the fight so close you have to skip the JDAMs and strafe the treeline? What's your attack heading so a short/long bomb doesn't hit friendlies? Employing smart munitions is more than simply handing off coords and mashing the pickle button. There's an entire tactical decision-making process that occurs before releasing the weapon.
