I have no idea why people pay for a preorder, then get all angry when the thing that never had a release date, where they explicitly state it won't have a release date, doesn't have a release date. It's out when it's out.

Note to your future selves: Don't pay for a preorder, just go back to the game, play, chill, forget about everything that isn't already out. Enjoy what you have. You're not suited to preordering, so don't do it. It's fine, completely understandable. Preordering niche products isn't like preordering from AAA developers (which is crazy stupid, but that's another discussion).

We only preorder to support the niche products. No other reason really. We otherwise gain absolutely nothing, except *maybe* a few dollars off the price. There is no advantage for the impatient to preorder. For those who've been playing this genre for decades, we've seen it before, and we're just happy to have the chance to see such amazing products in our lifetime. Maybe you haven't got that perspective yet, but I grew up in the time when the horizon was just a line on the screen, 48kb of RAM was what you had, and that was the terrain, full stop. If you're vulnerable to all the hype, create a bit of space for yourself so you don't get worked up about this, it's trivial.

I think the problem is the silence, they also indicated it was about a couple of months out, possibly less, when preorders started. Then NOTHING until a few days ago and that told us nothing again.

Oh well back the Apache for who knows how long And since I'm flying that helo it's apparent I don't mind bugs so get the f15 OUT....Pleeeeease

I’m pretty sure it will be here by July, that’s not far away. If it comes sooner, I will be happy with that and as well if it comes later. I don’t think there is a way to put a date on it yet, until it’s fairly close. I can understand they don’t want to say it will be out on “X” date and it doesn’t happen, would make things worse.

Are we getting ACM radar modes on initial release? I can't find in feature list...

I think so too. Or the second half of June. There is no rush for me, over Normandy I feel good again in WWII hunters. :yay:

Constant teasing without giving a release date is a bit like "gaslighting".
And also the "silent treatment".
Both very narcissistic behaviours.

I'm glad that razbam isn't my girlfriend...

Exactly...I mean a post that says, "we're getting close now" is absolutely meaningless in DCS-land, particularly when in December 2022, release was described as "imminent". Wouldn't that be described as close? How much closer are we now then?

For the record, I have nothing negative to say about ED or Razbam. I'm dedicated to both. I just wish they were more careful and considered in their messaging, that's all.

I’m only half-joking when I say that “imminent” in DCS-speak means sometime in the next year or so. Oxford defines imminent as “about to happen; impending”, so I’m not sure Devs in DCS-land know what the word means. As many have already pointed out, they’ve also said multiple times across a few months that they have a date set, but they haven’t shared it. At best, it all amounts to a poor communications strategy.

I can’t even imagine telling a boss or customer at work that my completion of a project is “imminent” when completion is months away. That would be a bad scene.

I was a dev and at work "imminent" for me meant in the next few minutes. "soon" was no more than two days. I was a business app dev though not a game dev. They all seem to have very different interpretations. As time goes on more words get stretched beyond recognition. The older we are the easier it is to see I guess.

I get the impression that the list that was posted of what will be in the initial release is more high level highlights and not 100% exhaustive.  At the end of the day, we will get on Day 1 what we are given on Day 1 and there isn't much you or I can do about it.

I have to hope that if ED themselves are tweeting it's close, then it must indeed be close (i.e. a handful of weeks not months), given they have the final say and are testing it from their PoV.

Two-weeksTM... should have enough time to learn:

  1. fly the Apache properly,
  2. UH-1H gunnery,
  3. F-5E,
  4. MiG-21,
  5. Mirage F1,
  6. navigation on all the modules
  7. and make some more video
  8. update some mission long overdue.

Well, this is one post not complaining.

It was mentioned few times later too that the date of release of EA will be given before the end of pre order. So no one will be surprised. The other thing is that ED, as far as I know, is not testing it yet (which may take a month or more), so... I wouldn't expect it soon. However, Im realistically betting on the holiday period, although I thought it would be May earlier.

Here's what is bothering me about this whole thing. Razbam had a version of the F-15E Suite 4+ module that was good enough to showcase at IT2EC nearly a month ago. The module, by the way, was ran on an ED Server. So my questions are:

1) If there was a version that was "good enough" to showcase at a trade show A MONTH AGO, why is it that us paying customers have yet to be given access to the module. We all understand that it's not going to be fully functional when we receive the early access version. But if there is a version that was "good enough" to show off at a trade show, then it's good enough to deliver to the paying customers "as-is".

2) Since the demo was run on an ED server, that would seem to indicate that ED had already completed at least some level of testing on the module.

Like I said, this was all nearly a month ago, so what is ED's justification for continuing to delay the early access release of the F-15E module? They need to stop playing games and release it already.

Here's a link to the post that I got all the above info from so you can read it for yourself:
