Dannyvandelft Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 So nothing on Afghanistan that was leaked during last years Beyond Video? Has it been scrapped? Not a single thing mentioned or shown since a year ago.On Facebook it was said it’s still coming. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk 1
Gruman Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Amazing video. Was a pleasure to watch it yesterday. Who is the developer of the CH-47? ED Project? Lurker Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 That B1 Lancer, is that going to be flyable or is it AI only? I mean it was pretty heavily featured in the video. Ditto for the B52? CaptJodan Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Was looking forward to this video for weeks now. Always love the "And Beyond" videos. And this one was packed full of upcoming modules. I hope many of the ones previously announced and showcased in the video can squeeze into 2023. Pretty excited for the Chinook. First heavy lift helo. This combined with the Herc will make for great logistics missions, especially when the dynamic campaign comes online. The Hellcat (and Corsair) will be great fun to fly in. Though this only makes me want a Zero more. I'm also looking forward to the La-7. Seems like it might be an exciting year for DCS. 1
Canada_Moose Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Regarding DLSS... Not so long ago there were statements from the team here that DLSS will never be supported because it is NVIDIA specific. I get that and was fine with that statement even though it didn't make a ton of sense to me. Based on that fact, (quite heavily seeing as DCS is one of my only few 'games'), I went AMD this time with a 6900XT. Therefore I would now like to ask - is FidelityFX also going to be supported? Thank you.

Lets hope... It actually looks like DLSS is possible to use with DX11 though (https://developer.nvidia.com/rtx/dlss/get-started). But it would make sense that any integration would be done on a newer graphics engine, which indeed hopefully means that Vulkan is not that far off... I do wonder if we are talking DLSS 3 (with frame generation), on very recent GPUs? That could help out in CPU limited situations as well... Hopefully the Streamline API is used, which might help integration of other HW vendors technology. Potentially even just DLAA (for high quality antialiasing?) DLSS implies use/generation of motion vectors, does this mean that the current multisampled deferred shading (using the edge detection and multipass algorith) is going to replaced by some TAA (temporal anti aliasing), even in the case of DLSS not being used?
evilnate Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Cool that the video was made with DLSS and independent graphics/logic threads. That tells me progress is going well but I wonder how that improvement/feature could have been demonstrated in the video? Like, how would that video have been different if those features were not included?
phant Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 (edited) @NineLine @BIGNEWY @Wags Will the introduction of the new 3D model of the Viking also bring the previously announced (2018) new physics of the in-flight refueling basket? Thanks in advance for any response! Bye Phant Edited January 5, 2023 by phant 1
St4rgun Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 This video is breathtaking as always. The photorealism is really top notch, always one step better than ED's last years' video. My only question: is this phenomenal picture quality will be the same for VR users also including proper anti-aliasing at playable framerate with the new EDGE? That would be awesome! 1 PC: 14700K | Gigabyte Z790 | Palit 3090 GamingPro | 32GB | Win10 Pro HMD: HP Reverb G2 | OpenXR @ 150% | DCS 2.9: PD: 1.0, DLSS 4 Profile "K" / "Performance" with Sharpening 1 Controllers: VKB Gunfighter MkIII base & 200 mm curved extension center mounted + TM F16 Grip / MCG Pro Grip | TM TFRP
Gary Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Dear Ed, Congratulations on the 2023 video and wishing all the staff there at ED a very happy and healthy New Year! I appreciate the 2023 video focused on modules whilst also mentioning the DLSS and MT implementation - and the recent newsletter provided us with an update on the Dynamic Campaign progress, but could I ask please for an update regarding the ATC workstream? Would I be correct in thinking the DC will require some improvements in this area to be viable, or is it likely to follow the DC beta roll out? Kind Regards, Gary 1 I5 - 1TB SSHD, 256 SSD - Nvidia 1070 - 16gb ram - CV1
Cowboy10uk Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Love the video, and of course the highlight for myself was the chinook and not just a chinook, BUT a F model chinook. Gonna need a LOT more push buttons in those home cockpit guys, the MFDs are huge in that aircraft and there’s 2 either side. I know not everyone is into logistics, BUT if you are. 2023 is gonna be OUR year in DCS. hugely impressed. Mr_sukebe Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Great vid and an interesting set of clarifications. - The Chinook and Hellcat were very pleasant surprises - DLSS inbound, great news I don’t remember there being mention of the dynamic campaign, the Mig23 or BAC Lightning. I know the aircraft are not from ED, but any thoughts? 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
Dragon1-1 Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 FSR looks interesting, I think it's usable even if you don't have an RTX card. Good times ahead.
