Hi ED,

A great asset would be the Germany map !

Having the Channel map and WW2 addon, it is inevitable to add this map too. It is a vital link between these two addons .

Fantastic terrain and scenery with valley's and mountains.

A must have to complete the WW2 cycle and as single usable map. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulda_Gap )

Kind regards,

RWC.

I would love a Germany map, although not a modern one but rather a 1980s Cold War Germany map (Fulda Gap!).

Well then he should say so, because he did not.
- He did not post this thread in the WW2 section of the forums.
- He did not say anything about WW2 in the thread title.
- He did not say anything about WW2 in his initial sentence where he states his wish.
- He did not say WW2 Germany anywhere, he just talks about how a Germany map would be a great addition to the channel map.

Now if you read between the lines it gets rather obvious that he probably means a WW2 Germany map, but he actually never states that this is actually the case.

Obvious, yet you still argue.

So USSR in Command & Conquer:Red alert invading USA is realistic? Polland migs in Germany in DCS is not? But if talking seriously, good idea, there`s enough maps with 50 to 70% оf water.

😄 Always surprises me how things get heated up over a topic. But in any case, all i wished for was the Germany map, in either WW2 period or present day . The scenery there has everything from flat landscapes to mountains and valley's. Especially since it lies so central in Europe with 8 countries along the borders ! I didn't put this request in the WW2 section, because in either way, old or new, that is a spectacular scenery to add !

This request was not opened to start a discussion on possible scenario's , but it DOES get your adrenalin going just thinking about having this, doesn't it ?

Kind regards,

RWC

Huh, so it actually wasn't as obvious as even I thought. 😅 👍

Try to leave as much information as you can for ED about such details. Why it is called this way and what is so special about it for example ect.

Was just thinking that today while flying the 109 campaign.

We have 2 maps of the Channel area, a third coming, a Germany map will allow for realistic Dora and 109K campaigns missions.

For WWII would be great.

@bies I agree with the Fulda Gap map showing the strategic importance of the Cold War era.  While we have not read any official DCS responses regarding your suggestion, it is possible the Fulda Gap would be represented when ED has its global map available.

Well, there are definitely people at ED that would also love a Fulda Gap map, like Wags:

The issue with any Northern European map will be the sheer density of objects; not only are the population centres more tightly packed but the amount of foliage is several orders of magnitude more dense with not only many woods but many many many miles of hedge lines; why do you think many of our existing maps are in desert areas? It’s because computationally they are much less resource hungry to develop and run.

Because of this the European maps we do have cover much less area than their desert counterparts.

A whole Germany map is I suspect beyond the engine to support currently, though it could well be broken up into several useful areas:

1. Western Frontier WW2 including Dutch and Belgian borders

2. Eastern Frontier WW2 including Berlin, the Seelow Heights and Polish border

3. Fulda Gap Cold War

Agreed.

whilst I’d love to have a Germany map, it’s probably worth waiting until the planned new tech is in place and working, such that it’s viable to stress test it’s new limits.

This said, i feel just sad, that i can not use the actual WW2 maps for modern scenarios (reds hav overrun europe - defending from England....something like that).

A center Europe map would be great. I thought about this las time when i played GHPC. Cold war would be a bang with the inner-german border. But please bring Lagerlechfeld as well, since i did my job there 😉
