waterman Posted June 29 Posted June 29 (edited) Just a quick note - My New Marianas WW2 Train Pack is now Uploaded and live for Download in the DCS Files. Its a quick very lean 9.64 mega bytes download Also Dont forget . Press Left Alt and z keys to make the valve gear slower in DCS and watch the slower train then press Shift z for back to normal speed. Lets See Some Nice Marianas WW2 Railway Action Screenshots Have a Nice Day out Touring the Islands on My Narrow Gauge Trains Theres a long coastal route on Saipan Island that runs all the way from Isley Field in the south up to Marpi Field It goes past the Saipan Sugar Factory at Charon Kanoa Have Lots of Fun ! waterman Posted June 30 Posted June 30 So has anyone tried out My Marianas WW2 Train Pack yet. I have managed to use the German Class 86 Steam Locomotive Steam Sounds and Smoke for my Narrow Gauge Locomotive and the smoke position is just perfect Neat trick hey ! It is not included in the Download as i dont want to write any files to DCS and some users say smoke maybe affecting frame rates. It just means I cannot use the German Class 86 while using Marianas WW2 Map but thats fine by me as it dont fit anyway. Slippa Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I had a quick look. Somehow I had two locos that were going forward and backing up a bit, then repeating it. Was quite amusing and probably something I’d messed up but there’s plenty to look at next time. Well done for building em all. 1 1
waterman Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Sounds like you had the final waypoint too close to the first one space them out more. 1 1

It would be awesome to have a little feature in the Future to have the 4500ft and longer runways in a 1960'ish style? More straight and with tarmac? Would be the closest to a Vietnam feeling and even enhance the feeling and the value of the map (usability wise) And with the right Tools not too much work, I guess 2

peachmonkey Posted July 11 Posted July 11 It would be great if ED worked on optimizing this map for VR. The modern Mariana was also pretty sluggish when first released, then about a year later it was nicely optimized and it performs excellent nowadays. The WW2 map is .. ahem.. a stutter fest on my 9800x3d + 4090. 2
Art-J Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Airfields at Guam seem to be the worst so far, Orote and Agana at least. My old 3070 struggles bad when low above these, intermittently sinking below v-synced 60fps even in empty missions (just my plane flying around), which is surprising because they aren't THAT populated with static objects and structures, are they? I thought it was just a question of running out of lousy VRAM budget, but I'm running out of it even faster on NTTR map and yet that one remains butter smooth. Maybe it's something about trees or shadows, can't narrow it down yet. Some extra optimisation would definitely come in handy. 1 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Esac_mirmidon Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I think the problem are the huge palm trees forest all over the place on those islands. Saipan is running much better because they dont have such large forest. 1 " You must think in russian.." Archangel44 Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Very nice map and so far so good with no issues maintaing 70 FPS. Took the Mustang for a nice tour of Guam at tree top level and went north to the other islands.
