G.J.S Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 Finally, an accurate depiction of the fallible nature of older systems, requiring an “artist” to interpret and get the best out of. No more ‘point, click and BOOM!’. Nicely done guys. 7 - - - The only real mystery in life is just why kamikaze pilots wore helmets? - - -
Iron Sights Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 Thanks Heatblur, I’ll check this one out. Keep up the great work! 2

Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 With the ever increasing fidelity and realism of player-controlled aircraft, I wonder how the AI will handle radars in the (near) future. Currently they see everything and can lock you up instantly, but should the AI have a random X% chance to detect you at Y distance (based on skill level) with appropriate delays between detection/lock-on/firing? I know this is ED's responsibility, but I couldn't help but wonder after watching this Episode... 6 Spoiler Ryzen 9 5900X | 64GB G.Skill TridentZ 3600 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X570-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 960Pro 1TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero Pro Flight Trainer Puma | VIRPIL MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-curve extension | Virpil CM3 throttle | Virpil CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | TPR rudder pedals OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings

Tiger-II Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 (edited) Didn't they say that the RADAR tech developed here would make it into other DCS products? F-5 desperately needs this! I hope to heck you get the Chromium stuff sorted out ASAP! I can't wait to fly the F-4! Only so many hours in the day. I once thought about doing another study course in the evenings but dropped the idea when I thought about the 40+ hour full time job I already have. Becoming proficient in the F-4 will almost need a pilots training... 3 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
falcon_120 Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 (edited) Amazing, HB should be remaking all radar in DCS XD... On a more serious note, the simulation is mind blowing, let's see how everything integrates with the Simulated world around the F4, and that is for ED to help. Imagine how sad it would be if you were managing all the limitations and nuances of a radar system like the F4 MPQ120, while a Mig21/F1 either AI or a player could shot you down even in a look down situation because... well the simulation of their radars is just not there. Indeed, that's what I'm planning to do in first place. Maybe setting up a small SP mission with some huge IL-76 aircraft flying in a straight line and than trying to lock them while in the WSO seat. 1

With this altitude line coming from the side lobe ground return, you are blind at this distance detecting targets? But this is only relevant at short distances. Is this also a problem once a lock has been established? 1

Those feelings need to go somewhere I guess. I all seriousness - I'm thoroughly impressed. Just think about the amount of research that must have gone into that. Writing code is one thing, but actually getting the required knowledge about such non-trivial technology.....
