LINK, ZOOM, and C-Scope

I know that Zoom is not implemented currently... But will it do what it sounds like? Providing Zoom in when targets are close together? Ot is there more behind it?

I hope Zoom is coming soon as it is quite hard right now to see what you are shooting at when targets are bunched up. The FCR symbols are quite big.

Hello, can someone explain to me what technology is behind it?

I believe C-Scope is simply radar targets displayed on the HUD (IHADS), right?

but

what is behind LINK and ZOOM?

I would be grateful for any information about this.

Kind regards, Dagobert

C-Scope: As you said, radar icons on IHADSS.

LINK: Ability to link TADS to radar. So when you use radar to target, the TADS will automtically slave to the target.

ZOOM: Ability to zoom on your radar display. Making it easier to seperate targets close to each other.

I believe the C-Scope also displays the icons on the TADS, as well, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

Do you mean like that?

So if these three functions are implemented we finally can let George stay at home and let him prep the party, right? 😂

While C-Scope and ZOOM will give us the ultimate SA on the targets, LINK will let us IFF visually from the backseat and the enemies will run for their lives I would assume?

Any idea if the zoom, link and c-scope arrives with the Koal map, or is it more likely in the june update?

I don't think so. The next patch is announced for tomorrow (3rd May) and sadly there are still no "Mini Updates" for the AH-64D related to the announced features. That means, that we propably have to wait at least one more month (June).

I agree, if we we're to be getting the extra functions tomorrow, I would have expected at least one youtube video from Wags showing us how to use the new features. The lack of video tells me we won't be getting them this patch.

I suspect it will not be in tandem with the Kola release.

However, to be fair, Wags did say May or June, implying late May/early June, which is in line with the 6-week update patch schedule. (Video Timestamped)

I guess this was an out-of-cycle patch just to get Kola launched.  Maybe the next big patch is in 2 weeks (no joke intended) which would be 6 weeks from the last patch in April. 🤷‍♂️

Since Wags has been talking about "[...] very, very close to releasing LINK, ZOOM and C-SCOPE" in "May or June" in this Interview with Casmo (published on 1st of April 2024 btw), I don't believe, that we get the new features before June 2024.

There is nothing to be disappointed or upset about. This DCS update was just for the release the new Kola map. Yes, a few hotfixes went out along with it, but this has no bearing on the update cycle.

This sort of thing has occurred many times in the past when a new aircraft module or map was released.
