One more:  When performing a two wheel landing avoid bringing the nose up too high.  You will hit the aft rotor system on the ground.

Can we ask you to do some videos when the module comes out? You do seem the most knowledgeable.

The OH-58 had a lot of information released and video's of it in action prior to release which made pre-purchase prior to the day a much easier option. In contrast, I haven't pre-purchased this yet. as I'm waiting for more information. This will either come from ED into what features will and won't be available, or (more likely) from customers after it's out with youtube content.

Given that the release date has been pushed back a week I figure that gives me a little more time. (There's no need to pre-buy now when I can pre-buy next week for the same).

Although for me, information is more important than saving a few dollars, so I'm willing to go from 30% to 20% discount to see what it fully offers in the way of gameplay and video's on youtube prior to making a commitment.  It's a real pity that ED haven't released content video's about how it can be used at released in gameplay like the Kiowa, or even AH-64 had. (I understand the Kiowa was not EA, and fully featured, but it'd still be nice to have video's demonstrating what we will be able to do at release with it (like the apache had IIRC).

TLDR;   Where's Wags?!!? 😉

I have requested permission to do so and asked for left and right limits.  If I get permission I will certainly give this a go but please be kind, I am not a you tube creator and I imagine my stuff will not be as high speed as a lot of people!

No worries about that. We just expect first hand knowledge and honesty!

Speaking of video’s,…did anyone from ED make a statement that they will be releasing some tutorials prior to launch?

I have scanned the thread and all BigNewy has posted is that they will be sharing more info leading up to release, but no more on what that info might be. I guess we all assumed there would be videos. As per previous ED modules.

With my advanced skill level in helicopters I'm not concerned about pre-release tutorials.  The AH-64 showed I'm capable of crashing any helo, any time, in the most dramatic fashion imaginable.  The CH-47 has two rotors to send skyward in dramatic fashion, so I expect some really amazing screenshots of falling wreckage.

Helicopter mods fear me.

Maybe the "basic" trim system mentioned in EA will be the "center sprung joystick helper trim" that I feel like everyone is referring to when they say "Force Trim".

It gets muddy when you start trying to discuss real system acronyms like DAFCS in the same conversation as PC sim software trim systems to work with desktop hardware. Center sprung joysticks don't work at all like the control systems in the actual aircraft. I agree that not having this software trim would make the EA module very difficult to use for everyone except those with full size 1:1 control setups like the PFT Puma or extended Virpil/TM cyclics...

I feel like most real life pilots that play sims also, would have a full size setup to get as close to possible to what all of their muscle memory is used to. Especially for helicopters. That's how I feel anyway. I want my sim control experience to match the real world aircraft I fly. It just makes simming that much easier and more immersive.

You wouldn’t happen to have an old set of FRC’s that the community could study prior to release would you. Redacted of anything important of course?

Fun aside. They used a checklist for runup. Limits and emergency procedures were memorized out of the operators manual. I think we're gonna have to wait a few more days until something is released. It's a cargo helicopter though, the runup will be super easier compared to something like the Apache.

Adrift is absolutely correct.  5 and 9 (Chapter 5 is the limits chapter and Chapter 9 is the Emergency Procedure chapter) had to be memorized cold.  Technically, non underlined emergency procedures are not required to be memorized, but it is one of those "highly desirable" things to do in the line units.  Which translates "you will memorize them."  This is in large part because if things do go wrong they go wrong and you will have multiple emergencies happening at any given time.  So you really don't have time to be flipping back and forth.   For example, if you have an engine fire, you don't just have an engine fire, you also have a single engine failure.  So were really required to know those two chapters front to back.   Normal Procedures you were required to use a checklist ALWAYS!  The one exception to this is when you are doing traffic pattern work.  Your first take off and landing you are required to use the checklist but subsequent take off and landings you can shoot from memory.  Otherwise, you better pull the checklist out and go through it no matter how familiar you are with the aircraft or the regime of flight you are in.  But I am pretty sure that is all of aviation now.  When I did my fixed wing transition in the civilian world I had an instructor pilot who didn't use the checklist for landing and instead just used the acronym GUMPS.  I though, oh, ok, too easy.  Then when I went on my pre-solo checkride I did that and the instructor pilot checking me called me and my regular IP on it.  So, again, pretty sure a checklist is required in all of aviation whether some people actually do or not.  Snappy fact for you, the aviation checklist was born from the B-17.  After a series of mishaps the Army Air Corps almost shut down the B-17 program as "it was too much aircraft" for pilots.   Boeing came up with the checklist and the Army thought it such a great idea they went with the B-17 purchase and implemented it into Army Air Corp aviation en totale!

EDIT:  Oh, one more point I would like to throw out.  The checklist actually used in the cockpit is usually very abbreviated compared to the actual Chapter 8 Normal Procedures chapter.  For example, in the Chinook the overhead counsel has A LOT of stuff going on up there.  If you look just at the old CH-47D operators manual on www.chinook-helicopter.com you will see the overhead counsel has the control panels for most of the major aircraft systems.  The normal procedure chapter in the operators manual will break down each panel, and often times many of the individual switches and knobs in detail.  But if you then look at the CH-47D checklist it says something along the lines of "OVERHEAD PANEL - SET"  So I guess my point is, in a small way memorizing the checklist is required.  But you are still required to use the checklist.  What helps most with overcoming major checklist steps like that where there are multiple steps for a single checklist item is eitehr coming up with an acronym or a flow.  Kind of the same way a musician remembers the notes on a sheet of music!

Not all, according to 9line on discord it’s delayed again and won’t be released with tomorrow’s patch
