Hello Everyone,

I am sure some of you have seen the recent posts that I have made with updates to the South Atlantic map which brings with it higher fidelity.  IMPO this is a game changer in that the ED lighting now works hand in hand with the terrain and makes for some absolutely stunning images.

I just wanted to share a few of those with you (especially for those that only really check the forums)

Anyways, here are the screenshots

Enjoy! 🙂

I bought this map today and have been flying it since 5AM, exploring.

I can't stop looking at it. It's beautiful.

It runs smoothly, even with my Harrier down at dirt level, on my 15 YO turnip.

But the islands themselves, WOW. I feel like I'm there.

Thanks for all your hard work.

Looks like the image links are broken... I've seen some videos about this update though, and it looks good. Thanks @Raz_Specter (et al?) for keeping heads down on this project!

Is this update currently out? How is progress going? I have read that updates to the map have been slow. Roughly how long until this is out of early access?

I am looking at getting this one on sale, but am worried if it has been abandoned or if there are active updates coming out for it.

SA map has a diferent team... (ORBX, working with RAZBAM), the actual Dispute has no affect to the Terrain Map Team. The update has no release yet.

Thanks. Any rough idea on when we can see this update? The screen shots in the OP look quite nice and like an improvement over what I saw in the past. Wondering if the detailed map area is expanding.

Can you give us some technical background for these?

Are we looking at the updated mesh and textures? Or at the improvements to DCS engine that make everything "pop"? Or at 4fps with an extreme-ultra-mega-ultimate graphics preset? Or maybe at all that combined?

Which is very much appreciated sir!

I must say I'm a bit confused though. I thought this ongoing (mysterious) dispute between Razbam and ED, meant that all Razbam DCS products were/are put on hold.

Seeing this update from @Raz_Specter indicates differently. Or is there some sort of difference between aircraft and map modules from Razbam (map team still working and aircraft team on hold or something)?

System specs:

i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU

HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3

Here's what I have been told on their discord when I asked about the dispute and updates:

Quote

The SA team is separate and aren’t part of the ongoing issue supposedly, and they have pushed updates in the last patches

So, as the update got released, what's the verdict?

Eager to know about it too.... Why it´s not on trial for everyone test and buy it?

Very impressed with the new look, much brighter and visible areas that seemed to lurk in the shadows before. The IA Strike Eagle takeoff mission is a nice setting and it's postcard perfect now. Valleys are more vibrant and mountain peaks stand out.

Well done, folks. 🙂

I risked it and got the map before any review. I made a recording of my first flight in the map. Looks amazing, tbh...
I'm impressed by it, enhanced by the fact I've actively avoided getting this map from its well documented issues.

Felt fantastic, no hiccups (the pauses are mostly for screenshots, too many to remove in editing and some were missed), no visual issues. Highly immersive from what I've felt. Flight path: Rio Grande -> Parque Nacional Alberto Agostini -> Rio Gallegos.

Looks amazing! Dev shared some screenshots of the update before it was released and it triggered a buy for me.

My first impression is that the upgrade is fantastic. It's so much better without the pre-baked shadows. The matching between the rivers and satellite imagery feels better too (or maybe I'm imagining it).

Note that this module sits at 96GB currently (on my system, at least).

Looking forward to flying this map some more!
