Hi, thanks for responding.

It's happened a few times, and i cannot remember exactly the condition of each instance.

At least the last time this happened I was mostly intact, maybe the gears were gone and I may have hit the blades on the ground when i landed plus whatever AA damage I took that made me go down in the first place, but all cockpit functions were working fine. And yes I was inside the helicopter.

If you lose your radio, you can't communicate with the AI. That could be it. OTOH, the AI is pretty frightfully ignorant sometimes, so it could just be that.

Hey guys, first time poster. Owned the game about a week now. Played a few times and seem to have flying down and am able to arm and fire the weapons manually.

The problem I seem to have is with the laser guided missiles. I can fire the first one, after that the Larger Targeting circle will never reallign with the smaller circle (while holding O the larger circle stays far off away from the smaller one) using the laser designator and auto turn to target. I will be far off to the left or right depending on which side the first missile comes out of.

Even when I try to move the smaller circle towards the larger one it simply just moves away and removes the C from the SHKVAL display (hope thats what its called. Still learning names).

I can't get the C to display on the targeting screen so the missile just simply will not fire.

This is occurring on the Shooting Range, BS2_Weapon Employment_Training, and the "How to take off and blow stuff up missions I've found on the forums here btw.

If you could let me know if there is something I'm suppose to do to reset that after the first missile is shot that would be great. I have tried it many times, and I can fire the cannons and rockets all day with out problems.

Thanks

Hi Sorbek. Welcome to the forums. :)

I think you're looking at this the wrong way around. You don't want to move the small circle towards the large one - you want to move the large one towards the small one.

The small one is overlaid on top of whatever you want to kill. The large one represents the cone of engagement for the Vikhr laser-guided missiles. In order to get the 'C' launch authorisation, you need to align the large circle with the small one.

The way to do this is with careful use of rudders. As you've noticed, the Auto Turn to Target function only roughly aligns you with your target. You need to use rudder inputs to "fine tune" the solution.

Hope this helps.

My problem is that the larger one won't move over the smaller one. It moves, but it will stay about 2-3 inches (on screen) away from the smaller one no matter where I move it. I just tried to move the smaller one closer to the larger one because it wasn't moving closer on its own with the auto turn to target on.

I will try adjusting with the rudders to see if that helps! Thanks for the suggestion.

As well, switching to manual mode often helps. Sometimes you can be all lined up with no launch authorization. Go manual and fire, very easy

This right here solved all my problems! Thank you so much!!!

Sadly turning the rudder pedals only worked 1 time after that it would never align again it just kept getting farther away.

Finally got to unload all of my weapons before returning to the airfield on the Shooting Range. Felt great!!!

I know that feeling :) Congratulation !

Autoturn is a rough solution. It align you to the target, not your wing. As your missiles are on the aircraft side, the sight scope is somewhat offset from the center. I limit my use of autoturn for basic alignment, and during search. During engagement, I trim my aircraft and just use rudder afterward. I admit i got some good rudder hardware - rudder is your best friend with KA50.

Hello everyone. Just figured I would introduce myself and start my career here on the forums off with a few questions that will most likely get redirected with the "use the search function" as a response. I just bought Ka-50 and A-10C, and so far have managed to get the Ka-50 about 100m off the ground and a little ways in the forward direction before some deity says, "Not today!" and then kills both of my engines. Anyways, I have a Saitek X-52 Pro as well Pro Flight Rudder Pedals and am looking to try and get into the multiplayer aspect of Ka-50 so if any of you can point me in the direction of some sort of organized/disorganized group of players who don't mind watching a fellow pilot fall out of the sky repeatedly, I would appreciate it. In addition, I am assuming that all stuff related to getting controls and stuff mapped to my X-52 and what not should be directed to the input area of the forums.

Welcome!

If you ask for advice on funky behavior of the helicopter, you should post a short and to the point track file (.trk) of your flight. This is covered in the GUI Manual. This and controls configuration as well, so you might want to go through the doc before hitting the input section of the forums.

Although I'm not up to date with the MP groups active nowadays It's a good decision to get in touch with people on-line to somewhat direct your training. Hopefully someone else will drop you a hint.

Just picked up the shark on this week's sale. I've been meaning to buy it for a while, but for some reason it was on back burner. Probably because I always see the poor sharks reaching the battlefield right as the A-10's are just mopping up. :D

I tried my "jump in and see how it goes" approach, you know, to see what would happen if I found an abandoned shark just sitting there. I got some stuff to turn on, but couldn't figure out how to make it start. Switched to english cockpit and got a little further, but not nearly ready to fly. A quick review of the vital parts of the checklist, and then I was airborne. Successfully flew around at low speed, and then started pushing the envelope. That's when it had a mid-air collision with itself. :D

Looking forward to learning how to fly it properly now.

Help for a noob targeting ground targets

Hi everyone,

I am playing the old version of Black Shark (not Black Shark 2) which I installed from a CD and I have been trying to target ground vehicles in the ''Battle'' mission in Single Player with no success. I have been following my notes from the tutorials on the Black Shark's weapon systems closely but can't seem to get ''TA NA' onto the HUD when I am trying to take out a tank. I got TA onto the HUD and the central TV but that is all. When I pressed the fire button on my keyboard (RALT+Space) the missile did not hit the tank I was trying to target but hit elsewhere. I made sure that the Master Arm was on, that I pressed 'Y' to set the Outside-Inside hard point select switch to Outside as it said to in the tutorial and the PUI display showed the selected weapon and remaining missiles etc. The 'Ground Moving Target' button was on as was 'Automatic Turn to Target'. I pressed 'H' to bring up the helmet mounted sight then held 'O' to bring up the 'Processing Complete' two concentric circles and cross in the vicinity of the tanks. I then put the 'box' on the central TV screen over a tank and changed the size of the box to fit the tank properly. I held down 'Enter' (Auto Lock) while keeping the tank in the box and then released 'Enter'. This is now where the problem is. The tutorial says that then 'TA' should appear on the central TV and that 'TA NA' should appear on the HUD. 'TA' appears on the central TV screen but only 'TA' appears on the HUD instead of 'TA NA'. When I try to fire a missile it does not fire at the tank but elsewhere. If someone could please tell me what I am doing wrong it would really be appreciated.

Thanks in advance. :)

Your laser is not armed. Its the most right bottom switch on the panel with the "Auto-Turn"-Button.

Hello. I had Ka50 for a few weeks now. I have been training and trying to get used to all the systems. This is my 1st helo simulator. I'm slowly learning. I do have an issue that is kinda of hard to figure out. I know maybe I just need to keep practicing. I do my best to trim the helo to hover, or fly straight as possible and i am getting a hang of it. however sometimes I try to keep the helo from moving sideways. I tried to re trim but it just gets worse and sometimes i can't get it to stay in the direction I want or to hover steady. Some times it spins out of control and i try to use rudder and cyclic to get it stable but i fail.

I'm using CH Fighterstick and CH pro pedals. I don't have the CH throttle yet.

Is it really that sensitive to keep the helo flying straight and hover? I have all my axis setting at default. Do i need to make adjustments to dead zones, etc?

If it is a matter of more practice I understand but I want to make sure is not a setting or something else. I had logitech 3d pro stick and I was all over the place. I upgraded to CH fighterstick and I saw a BIG difference. Thanks.

If I understand correctly, the problem is tied to flying sideways, is that correct?

If so, it may point to problems with your controllers, because the Ka-50 is pretty sensitive around all axes. :)

You should post a track so that we can take a look (in the debriefing, select "Save track", then to upload that track-file to a new post, look for "Manage Attachments").

I'd say that near a hover, it doesn't make much of a difference whether you try to fly forward or sideways. As the speed increases, flying sideways requires more input, mostly rudder, to counter the effect of wind acting on the fuselage, so that may or may not be your problem.

If you upload a track, we can make more specific suggestions.

But basically, flying helicopters does really take a lot of practice. :joystick:

ok thx. I will try to upload the track next time I play.

Dust isn't modelled. Ice is however, and lift performance, instrument readings etc will degrade as ice builds up. I'm not sure how many systems are affected though.
