MAXsenna Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Have a nice day, friends. We see your indignation about the northern part of Israel in our map. Yes, this part of the map was removed from the build intentionally. This was the demand of a third party, in order to quickly resolve the conflict, it was decided to do just that. We are very sorry about what happened and apologize for the fact that this was not covered in advance. But the dialogue continues, the data was not been completely removed, but only been excluded for this build. We are doing everything possible to approve the return of northern Israel in the nearest upcoming update. Do not be so categorical and hasty in your conclusions. We can't always do what we want, sometimes we have to do what we are required to do. It is obvious that our goal cannot be "to make the map worse".Thank you for your response! Now, Eagle Dynamics, please solve this dispute as quickly as possible.Like written above. The complete Israel can co-exist in both maps, as they serve different purposes. We might even see DLC campaigns in the future that REQUIRES BOTH maps, which could become a win-win.My opinion of UGRA does took a hit. Maybe we should all head over to that forum to voice our opinions and disappointment. While in all fearness I was sort of worried that something like this would happen, as users were asking these exact questions when Sinaï was announced, and ED could have been in front of this. My own personal opinion of course.Cheers all, and let's hope this will be solved. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 18

Hotdognz Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Well looking at this with eyes open wide and factual, we know the only 2 3rd part devs with maps that cross into each others areas are Syria and Sinia, both have lived side by side for 1 year without issue. My questions would be to ED who own the game and publish these 2 maps for both 3rd parties and sell them to us and take a cut. How did you not know about this, was you informed that there was a request to remove the part of Sinai that was removed in this update. (it appears you did not know) Why were you not informed, I would have thought it would be in the best interests of all involved that this would have been discussed with ED first and that ED would be a part of the decision process or resolution process to sort this out. Why has the 3rd party map dev requested this part of another company's map be removed now 1 year later, what is the issue that they have with this area being in a map, I doubt very much that it does not impact on the sales of Syria and why has it taken 1 year for this to happen. ED how can you stop this happing again ??, what will you put in place to stop this happing 9

pixie Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 I can't see why 2 companies depicting the same region with their own interpretation of geodatas in 2 distincts products could become a legal issue. I smell BS. 12
N0XID Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 (edited) Who is this ominous third party? I've had enough of these third party developers. First Razbam, now Oneretech. And yes, it stinks that it's actually UGRA. That brings us to the next third party developer... Give us back what WE paid for! This is a scam and you know it. Thanks Edited August 10, 2024 by N0XID 6 CHECKMATES - German DCS Squadron

Chinooklad Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Don't own this, but people should be given refunds ASAP. They've been robbed of what they purhcased with no prior warning. Dispute or not, that's unacceptable. 8

Romandv Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 (edited) Extremely frustrating situation, as Sinai is my favourite map and I hardly ever fly Syria. I really hope that the situation will be resolved, I have enough experiences with my 3 crutch-module from RB yet they will be joined by a crutch-Sinai. Linx Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Absolutely deplorable behavior by all three parties involved. What is going with DCS this year? 21 1
pixie Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 So who's this third party ? Who has this kind of leverage ? 3
Fabri91 Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 (edited) It's probably the author of the Syria map, Ugra Media - it's the only possible overlap. The lack of communication is concerning - there are other map pairs where there is overlap, which of course are now completely out of consideration since part of them can be removed without any notice whatsoever. jacyooii Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Unless Eagle Dynamics has some kind of contract that grants exclusive rights to a party to develop a map for a particular area, I do not see why ORT needs to comply with such demand. I just bought both Syria and Sinai map during the summer sale and I regret my decision for now. 6

-orlok- Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 can any one explain why maps covering part of the same area would cause issues? is it purely down to "we want folk to buy our map if the fly over landmass X and we did it first" or something deeper, technical etc? 3
Biggus Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Adding my voice to this thread, I'm extremely disappointed by all of this. It's a very important part of the map and I hope that it is returned in the next update. 9
MAXsenna Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 @MAESTR0 I have learned today, that another 3rd party has instructed @OnReTech to remove parts of the Sïnai map that was already delivered to us customers, not even mentioned in the changelog, except for a "map size change". Now, for some reason or another, I come to the conclusion that the 3rd party mentioned has to be UGRA Media, Occam's and all. To come in front of this. Would you care to explain to us customers, why such action has been taken by UGRA Media? Have you even considered that these maps can co-exist, even if you both include the complete Israel? It could actually be a win-win for both, as it could enable DLC campaign creators to include both maps in their campaigns. With all the drama in the past months, I don't think the community neither needed or deserved this. Please reconsider. Let @OnReTech go North, while you guys head down South. Please don't let something this stupid tarnish your reputation and excellent work. I was really looking forward to your next project, whatever it is. Now, in case I'm beeing wrong here, you have my most sincere apology. Cheers! 36 6

Thank you @OnReTech for speaking up, and I commend you for keeping it to a neutral "third party" in this regard. I'm hoping that this will lead to a successful and mutually (you, third party, ED and us customers) beneficial resolution in the future. If I may be so bold and suggest that you (ORT) step up your communication efforts - much of this public display of indignation, frustration and anger can be avoided with timely communications in advance. Good luck, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you about progress in this, and all other matters concerning Sinai map, -ch 3
