I don't know if it may works, but you can try to modify the option.lua file in your "X:\users\"your name"\saved games\DCS\config"  folder.

this line below represent the slider in the graphical option in DCS:

["clutterMaxDistance"] = 1500,

try to increase this number and check in DCS if it works....

Clutter/Grass: Adjustable from 0-1500... this adjusts the grass and bushes... so if you are looking to extend past the max in game settings, than try what flag02004 is suggesting. If you are simply asking if there is a setting that adjusts this value at all... then it is called "clutter/grass" in the settings.

Wouldn’t this be great to figure out! Although I would venture to guess that the limitation is “hard coded”, for lack of a better term, in dcs. Such as ( maybe linked to)  the LOD tables for scenery. It would be awesome to increase that distance, without making the grass taller at the same time.  Also to be able to adjust the distance for the baked in shrubbery, rocks et

Would  be great if this could be sorted by adding a slider or even a configuration file override so people can increase it and balance with their system performance (or not if it doesn't bother them) it's the single biggest immersion killer for me flying helicopters. Makes the highly detailed new maps look poor when there's a visible circle of rocks, bushes etc popping in at what feels like 100 metres.

If I recall correctly the grass clutter distance used to be able to be adjusted in a file called grass.hsl but has since been locked away? 🤔 

The entry's in grass.fx or grass.lua seem to only reference blade size and changing any of these seems to have no effect from what I've been able to tell.

I wonder why ED take these options off us?

I can only guess they want us all to see the tech they introduced with the helicopter rotor cauing the grass to blow about 😜

Especially when you're in a helicopter it's so annoying, looks really bad and ruins the immersion with all the bushes and rocks constantly popping up a few meters away. It's been an issue for a while now that should finally be fixed and it should be a pretty easy one to do for ED!

Same here. Although i fly jets in VR it annoys me too for immersion breaking. And i have headroom to increase the distance just lacking the option do do so.

I'd like this grass distance to be increased too and I've been trying to find if there is a way (used to be before) but I can't find it either.

ED let us set the render distance from bushes an grass again so it can be stopped completely if wished, no matter what performance cost!

This is so f.....ing annoying with an RTX 5090 which has enough headroom to do this but there is no way to change it anymore.
This absolutely unnatural comic-style bushes-popping is really destroying everything of this nice flightsim in lowlevel flight!

It can´t be that hard to change...

we have requested an increase in render distance of bushes, however there is an fps impact to be considered. At the moment I have no further news to share.

I appreciate this. But just food for thought - the rendering distance of objects is just a simple variable, like a lot of other things in the GFX engine.
Just give us users the option to set it ourselves according to our machines and mission. Currently it is unnecessarily frustrating for helicopters. It's simply a different gameplay.

I couldn't care less about drawing of far away objects, but having fences, bushes and other LoDs just pop in as a wavefront right in the center of your POV is.... not nice.
I don't want to beat a dead horse (at least no more), but if you could ask your team for an (optional) setting that would satisfy helicopter needs, that would be awesome.
