Hello and happy holidays!

I'm a beginner in DCS and I love these great videos!

Thanks for the videos and also for all the interesting additional details.

Can I also ask something very simple? On which map is the F-5e in this official YouTube video "F-5E REMASTERED | OUT NOW"

this one:

and on which airfield is the takeoff, the blue hangar?

Lots of mountains, glaciers, and forests....I'd say it was Kola map (I don't have that one yet, though). No idea which airport it was. maybe post this in the maps section?

I'd say South Atlantic map, no idea about the airbase.

@Bucic

Thanks for the good tips!
As I just saw when checking airfields (to find the right one with a blue hangar) there are also very different seasons.
So light green, dark green etc. in the same place
And then there are the times of day and the weather! It can look very different each time, great!
I'm blown away!
That's perhaps too off topic. But the goal now is more than before to learn to fly a jet, e.g. F-5E ! 😀

I highly recommend starting with this, complemented by the author's YouTube videos

Requiem's F-5E Cockpit Workflows & Kneeboard (updated 10/8/2020) - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3312277/

The playlist link below:

DCS F-5E Tiger #1 - Aircraft General - YouTube —

And that's right after watching the excellent Bunyap's walkaround video 🙂

Bunyap's walkraround and introduction for the F-5E - note some of the videos have around 20,000 views!

Those are fast tuts (whole F-5E playlist)

(note the error of corelating HSI with ADI Fast erect)

and

the Canadian guy has some nice slow live streams

Thank you for these very useful links!

Though I first startet by learning P-51D (slower and less dangerous - I thought 😅) and did my first takeoff with the Su-25T right now -

these videos are great and take away my fear of flying with the more complicated ff F-5E!

From idyl to horror during a late morning flight on NTTR - one of the most chilling moments I've experienced in DCS.

Some formation attempts, some aerobatics and then...

I'm completely new to NTTR and the city lights are clearly bugged (not visible) but I decided to see how it's going to unfold.

Swiss Air Force, 2 tone grey
Austrian Air Force 2, Staffel
Norwegian Air Force 338 sqn 215
“MiG-28” Topgun black

Aggressor desert camouflage VFC-13

New liveries coming soon:

The texture template for users to create their own should be available soon, and should be no later than the Christmas update.

As far as radar and sounds, we never stated these would change, but rather the 3D model of the interior, exterior and pilot and included textures were what the remaster was about. Thanks.

Hello, any new forecast for the availability of the DCS: F-5E Remastered texture template? Thanks!

If you are upgrading from the older version, it is also not 59.99. 59.99 full price. 14.99 is the upgrade price for what BN posted above.

I know it caused some controversy, but in my opinion the graphical difference is huge. The Tiger II simply looks amazing in game now, arguably one of the best looking aircraft. Well worth the 15 USD upgrade I think! Also, if you don't think it's worth it, you don't have to purchase it 🙂

I love the new F-5! 😍

I can't understand why people complain about spending $15 on a beautiful external model and cockpit that someone spent hundreds of hours developing, but are happy to spend that every Friday night on takeout or at the bar?🤷

The old F-5 belongs in DCS 1.5. We're on the verge of DCS 3.0, and every module should be at the F-5 Remastered level at the very least. I would be happy to pay for it.

I only wish the external model was transferred to the AI F-5E and F-5 FC, so I don't have to keep seeing that outdated model.

The main issue is a combination of what was advertised and the work hour poured into it. ED said they put over 7000 hours of work into it! And we "only" got an external and internal model (which are encrypted so making skins is a tedious process) all while also proclaiming improvements to avionics (radar untouched, still old graphics and constantly teasing different F-5 versions but as it turned out those were only visual changes).

I mean you can literally go back to page 1 in this topic and read through some of the most liked posts, they sum up the "issues" quite well.

Ah, this again. Months in advance we new it's going to be the same variant. A large number of people fell for nothing but their own uncurbed imagination.

The cockpit and the external model alone are worth 15 USD and there are several additional features on top of that. Some not mentioned enough:

* next gen pilot body model (on par with the F-16 one?)

* cockpit buffetting feedback: component vibrations, audio!

* the above is combined with reworked wing flex and added over wing vapor effects

* and finally, reignited bug fixing and improvements - in the mere last months we saw more work done on the F-5E than during several years preceeding the Remastered announcement. A good example is the cannon dispersion adjustment.

I agree that the work we've seen recently has been refreshing - I'm still a bit worried though, the recent fixes so far are mostly low-hanging fruit (the cannon example being a simple lua change), while some of the bigger issues (e.g. AOA and wingtip asymmetry) haven't been addressed.

I think you're the last person that needs convincing to the fact that getting a bug report recognized, accepted and pulled to the official ED tracker is what separates an issue on track to getting resolved from an issue that is guaranteed to never getting fixed. It's like comparing your modest 10 lb bench press progress to an impressive list of past new year resolutions 😉

I agree that AoA capability, the pending Tire Strut Suspension Modelling update and radar display update are the biggest bullet points on the hard side of things but the first one has been accepted and the second one is a "we're getting it anyway" sort of thing. I've just finished reviewing my mildoc library and I'm pretty sure I've got one more paper to add to the resources pool pertaining to F-5E AoA capability.

As for fruits from higher branches of the tree, indeed, one of the big 3 mentioned above would be a nice juicy bone thrown to the community.

Agree to disagree. You can get better/on par cockpit textures for free from the User Files. The only thing the free ones don't have is the improved canopy glass.
Nothing changed in the cockpit except for textures. No corrected proportions for VR (even with in-game IPD at 75 it's still too large), no improved resolution mesh.

And as I said before, I have watched the new and old external model side by side and I can't tell the difference (except for the textures, but I'm talking about the model itself). I personally don't care about the ability to open the gun bay doors on the ground 🤷‍♀️

ED clearly stated it's not a purely cosmetic upgrade, while that is clearly a lie...

Spoiler

Ryzen 9 5900X | 64GB G.Skill TridentZ 3600 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X570-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 960Pro 1TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero
Pro Flight Trainer Puma | VIRPIL MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-curve extension | Virpil CM3 throttle | Virpil CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | TPR rudder pedals

OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings

I checked all of the available cockpit mods and none come close to the remastered apart from indicator glass pieces being better in the old installment. The mesh seems to be the same. Are we forgetting the next gen pilot model again?

As for the external model, if you have a problem of that magnitude, I suggest just staring at the exhaust nozzles and landing gear 🙂

As for 'not just cosmetic' - ED meant 'not just small changes' and you mean 'Mavericks' so...
