And for OLED VR lenses?

It is a universal value for digital to screens. Doesn't matter the screen.

You should adjust to fit your needs. But when mastering a visual media, the artist should be at 2.2 because that's a value most electronics are around/made to be at.

Exactly, we absolutely need visors like the F15E or the M2000c because they provide
nearly natural vision.😊

Thanks in advance.

Well, the Mirage 2000 and F-15E don’t technically have “visors”: the effect is there, sure, but they are basically just rectangular filters that pop into view. The worst offender of this approach is the MiG-21 because while it has a “visor”, it doesn’t move with your head in VR (same as RAZBAM’s initial implementation of it).

The only aircraft with a properly implemented visor are Mirage F1 and MiG-29.
And credit where credit’s due: ED has the best visor implementation in DCS now with their MiG-29.

Correct, but I was only talking about the effect in relation to the setting.
2.2😘

Yes, I know 😇

I’m just being nit-picky: if you’re going to say “we need a visor like in the XYZ”, pick MiG-29 because that module sets the new standard 😊

IDK, when I compare the VR headset (Vive Pro) to flatscreen, my impression is that VR is more "contrasty", blacks seem more crushed. It is noticeable at night (in game) and with dark cockpits, like the F-4. 🤷‍♂️

Agreed with @draconus, I think that HB would like to fulfill the early model that mentioned in the HB document section about "Modelled F-14 versions in DCS".

Normal. Screens have a variety of types and tech on every type of electronic.

VA vs IPS for monitors are wildly different in the extreme values especially on darks, for example. Each manufacturer has also different screen calibrations.
All you said is pretty normal. It would be surprising if it were the other way around.

Among flat screens there are a number of different screen types, VR goggles, cellphones, tvs...etc.

If you have crushed blacks on your VR goggle, consider adjusting its ''black levels'' if there is any to chose. Usually they come with ''normal'' or ''low'' on monitors.
If you're using full range on ''output dynamic range'' (nVidia control panel. Whatever is called on AMD control panel) consider switching to ''limited''. It will bring the low values back up and tune down the contrast.

nVidia control panel->Change resolution->Output Dynamic Range - Limited.

Alternatively, bring DCS gamma up if it doesn't overblow clouds. If it does, there may have other methods on the VR hardware itself, which would be best in order not to mess with your monitor settings.

THX I'll try that.

Adjust the gamma in realtime during a flight. Choose the one that suits you best.

Sometimes it’s just easy. 🙂

Well, speak for yourself.

The 3D pilot is very useful in VR (and in 2D too), as example,  when i need to check my checklists/charts i just look to my leg in the 3D pilot, also helps a lot in immersion.

Flying in VR without a body in cockpit it´s not the same in terms of immersion.

This in particular is a matter of taste. I for once absolutely despise pilot bodies. VR or flat. But fortunately it can be toggled in realtime, so I have no issues with it. And when you offer a pilot model, at least make it pretty! 😁😊

Patch seem to cause some headache for ED. It’s getting late…. brace yourselves. 😬

Yes of course, everyone have different views or needs i agree. That´s why you can disable it on the fly (sometimes i need to check parts of the cockpit and i need to disable the 3D pilot for a few secs, mainly in the Viper cockpit). At the beginning i didnt use the 3D pilots because i didn´t like it, but now i can´t fly without it.

Yes, for me the game changer was the new kneeboard. Very immersive.

...or this patch will be huge - as DCS grows (the numbers of maps and modules) the patch compilation/coding will take more and more time. (encrypted files: .exe, .dll, .bin, edce), so, patience

Agreed in what ? I don't know what is mentioned in the HB document section about "Modelled F-14 versions in DCS" but F-14-95-GR is not an "Early F-14A USN Tomcat".
95-GR is "Persian Cat"
Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\F14\Entry\F-14A.lua ('F-14A-95-GR',_('F-14A-95-GR'),{"Iran"}))

There was one earlier this summer that was later than this.  IIRC some of the European people gave up and went to bed.  Typically if was postponed they'd had said by now, so likely just logistics of getting it live.

Honestly, good deal.

They go get their 40 winks in a comfy bed, wake up, check out if it's out, then just let it download as they go about doing their daily whatever, get home and bam. There it is.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

I'm curious whether the patch will be postponed until tomorrow or next week(s)...

Until I upgraded my internet this summer a big patch was nearly 24 hrs to get it downloaded.  So all the anticipation of waiting for the patch followed by the long wait after everyone else started raving (or cursing) it 🫤
