That or F-35 which I think I'd like to see the most since I know almost nothing about it. But the F-22 is too classified, and the F-35 doesn't even functionally exist yet, so... old school 1970s airframes it is :D

Huh?, uhm well some stuff is still marked official use only but only to do with the ram material; the apg radar etc is all out there.

To be honest nothing really special about the raptor; the engines we can just guess on. Some shit there is marked restricted also.

The rest is really off the shelf parts..

...DCS: F-16 would actually be a massive step back due to the lack of mods and environments, the uprooting of the community, as well as features that DCS simply doesn't offer like the dynamic campaign.

It has to be said that desiring an F-16 above all else is a really stupid and selfish desire, since having a NEW airframe not seen in a modern sim is a hell of a lot better than a copy-paste remake of a sim for a crappy little disposable single-engine piece of crap... .

Uproot the community and gain sales from the Falcon fans to DCS. Maybe not a bad idea.

I personally wouldn't complain about any multi-role fighter. If ED do a F-18 than it may be the same airframe modeled in Janes F-18, and both Falcon 4 and Janes F-18 came out in 1999. To me even after all the mods, Falcon 4 still feels like it from 99.

First time I've heard of that... you sure it's not for export variants? I can see Singapore buying that... we don't even have V2 AESA radars yet, getting a cockpit overhaul to fit a bigger display in seems iffy to me.

Do you have the ability to scan the pages and send them to me in a .pdf? I'd like to hear more about what Boeing said on this.

I recently read an article at Aviation Week. He may be referring to the Silent Eagle Project. There is a F-35-like cockpit display planned.

what the hell is the point of an F-18c.com if it isn't a game? Shits 'n giggles?

Future plans, so that, as mentioned, they don't have some **** cybersquatting on a useful URL?

The important thing is that it should be an jetzt you don't have to trim all the time... thats an feature that sucks:joystick:

But what numbers of selled units are selling well? In my online store where I preordered the A-10 (just to spend money for making F-16 :megalol:) they have less than 100 preorders until now...

I see a lot of people speculating about the F-15E strike eagle. You guys think that the next module will really be a two seater? That would really change the way the game is played. It seems like it would really take MP to the next level (and pretty much make it essential). Same goes for the F/A-18 D and F (and AH-64D, but it seems that a US fixed wing is confirmed).

Also I feel like the possibility of an aircraft from a different time period was specifically mentioned as well. Flying the F-86 would be sweet! Heck I'd go for the F-4 or the A-6 or even the A-1 Skyraider. (Though I'm not sure if it is confirmed to be a fighter or not, could someone link to where they got that info?)

I don't know much about ED's history and future plans as far as military involvement go. Was Black Shark also developed for some military body as A-10 was? Do you think that the next module will also have a military customer? If that is the case I can't see why they would focus on any other time frame than modern aircraft. Anyway I'm sure I'll be playing the next module, whatever it is, whenever it is.

A back-seater isn't 'vital' if the game lets you hot-swap seats... at best you would have a rudimentary AI to control some basic tasks, but there's not a lot you can't do from either cockpit in an F-15E. You can slew around the TPod in the front seat, you can use all the flight controls in the back seat.

Certain actions are limited, for example you don't have FULL control of the TPod in front, and you don't have all the HOTAS functions like the speedbrake in the back, but essentially the idea is that you're either flying and need those tasks, or you're bombing and don't.

Yes, a U.S. fixed wing fighter. Yes, I'd be sorely disappointed if it's the Sabre.

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Yeah that's part of why I was curious about a military customer. If the military wants a sim for a two seater, then that's what we will get. But if the next module is just for the consumer market, I feel like a two seater might have a hard time selling as successfully as a one seater, given that not everyone plays MP (though they probably should), and hot swapping seats can be difficult to implement, and sort of takes away some of the fidelity of the sim. Also, as I said before, if military customer is involved, aircraft for previous eras are unlikely, but if its just for consumers then any time period is a possibility.

Also, what do you have against the F-86? I'd love to fly that thing over Korea for an FAC directed napalm strike. Though on the flip side, any past-era fighter would seriously hinder any possibility of future compatibility between modules.

1) Yes.

2) Well if ED had the option to do a military contract for a certain aircraft, of course they would take that. But then again, they developed flaming cliffs which was purely an entertainment thing...so its possible the next module will just be for us. Who knows

I don't see any technical reason it would hinder compatibility... That would simply be an issue up to the mission designers. Other than the AIM-9 and fancy gun sights, the F-86 has the advantage in air to air.

If it's selling well or not, I'm completely supporting ED with every sim/module they make. I already made three of my friend buy it and I'm always looking for more recruits :D

For me it doesn't matter if the next aircraft will be the F-15E, the F/A-18C etc, but I really hope that will be a modern aircraft and not the F-86.

The last (really) realistic game was the Falcon 4.0 (and also AF), so we can be happy that we got from DCS the most realistic simulation which has ever peen produced. The military simulation market was declared dead, but we know that's not true, thanks a lot ED!!

Im always trying to sell guys I meet on trying the game... none ever do (except for my gamer friends which did buy A-10). I guess few really do have the bug for our sim.

I would LOVE the F-35 JSF, but as stated previously we don't know enough about it and who knows how functional it is in reality right now =/

Except we already know it's a fixed-wing US Fighter.

And the same can be said of the F-15E - models and sounds for weapons like AGM-130s are in the files but not used in-game.

The same can be said for a lot of aircraft. Lots of code exists in there that is airframe specific, doesn't mean the ED will do those airframes though. For example, this could easily just be a left-over from their DTS for the military, but if you look in Sounds/Speech/nato.lua (I think that's the directory) then you will notice that you can check into JTAC as the following aircraft:

F-16A

F-16

F-18

F-18C

A-10A

A-10C

Ka-50

Mi-24W

Mi-8

AH-64A

AH-64D

AH-1W

I think that's the list of them, but I could be off a little, as this is solely from memory. I would be guessing though, as I said, that this list is more related to their military contract work than for us.

The fact remains that ED did register F-18C.com, though if they did this because it's the next module or they did it so they would own the site in case they want to do an F/A-18C later, who can say. What it does definitely mean though is that F-18C is something they think is a possible module.
