Well I'm with you on that, and we are getting several of those and even the Eurofighter Typhoon from VEAO which is awesome!!! Can't wait to slide that Typhoon around the sky. But I'd still love to see the F16 non the less. It is an exciting jet for me, a true fighter that can go head to head with almost anything... bomb some ground targets and then fight its way back home.

While I was initially very excited for the Eurofighter, upon further thought with the amount of information that is still classified on it I am now very torn on if I will purchase it or not. I just can't see how the systems, etc. can be modeled to be realistic to the real thing at all with how much is still classified. I'd love to be proven wrong on that though!

Well VEAO seem confident they can deliver a product as close to the real thing as possible. We don't know what kind of access they have to it and probably never will. I don't mind having a few systems excluded as long as all the important stuff is there, I wont know what's missing anyway. I am more interested in the flight dynamics of the typhoon, if they get that right I'll be very happy indeed.

A Thud would be a lot of fun to sim fly. : would like the challenge of sneaking up on a ground target, then dropping the nose and making the jump to hyperspace...well going supersonic, anyway. I would also like the challenge of hunting the Thud, using a Mig-17, the way the North Vietnamese Air force had to do so, very often. I really like the Sabre, so I think I will also really like the Mig-17.

Well, the F4 would sure be great. We could probably use the Mig-21bis as an escort for the Thud, if the Thud is made and there is no F4, immediately out. I would use the F-86f or Mig-15bis as a stand in for the Mig-17, until there is a Mig-17f or Mig-17PF.

One thing I did not consider, above. The Mig-15bis may be close enough to the J-4 to serve as an accurate Vietnamese era combat aircraft. I believe that some of the earliest North Vietnameese air kills were made with the J-4, so a DCS Mig-15bis would be a realistic opponent for a DCS F-105 Thud.

Strike that. I may be confusing the Shenyang J-2 and J-4. I have to double check, tonight.

F105 Thud and 'Thud Ridge' is a flight sim dream, I am just wondering if there is a market for this huge fighter/bomber ?

I just can't say no to good modules.. Bring it!

Mud movers unite!

Why else would DCS invest in the anti-air systems in the game if it did not intend (as God intends) that there be a western strike fighter to compliment the Su25T (just as the Su27 compliments the F15, or the F16 compliments the MiG 29). It's a matter of balance. Not asking for a two-seat implementation like in Strike Eagle or Tornado sims of yore. Come on Wags. Help us out here.

Flyby out

If that's the case, then we need a full DCS Su25SM to go against the A-10C before we get anything else. Or hell a Cobra/Apache to go against the Ka-50.

when I think strike a/c

I'm not so much thinking about close air support for troops. I'm thinking of going in low and deep to strike in an enemy's rear. Bu tmore a/c are welcome to fit all comers, I suppose.

Well Belsimtek's doing a cobra, and the original plan was the Golf Cobra but theres a chance it might be the Sierra or Whiskey Cobras instead. The poll shows the Whiskey Cobra's getting the most votes. So you'll probably get your wish :D

I will once again say the F-4E Phantom II, it would go perfectly with the MiG-21BIS once it comes out

DCS: F-4E really needs to be a thing!!!!!!

DCS missing a necessary aircraft

from what i understand, DCS - as far as modeling the "modern" era anyway - is seeking to model roughly 90s-era air combat

we can't go after current fighters or the 2000s decade since these a/c are still too modern and many details are (rightly) classified and SMEs probably won't share details with the devs to make a "good enough" flight sim

so, to properly model the a/c of the 90s, you need...

15s (light-greys and dark-greys)

16s

18s

14s

A10s

117s

B52 / Bone

and refueling/cargo/support/etc a/c

AWACS of course

(lets leave out rivet joint and compass call and other ES support a/c - no "real" place for them in consumer-level public-use flight sim)

((and yes, i know i'm leaving out a few other a/c - but i'm painting with a broad brush here))

and the corresponding russkie a/c

if you look at that list, we've got a lot of that covered

sure, the 16 is a bone of contention - so lets leave that out of this discussion, there are other threads that deal with that a/c..

and we also really should have stand-off/escort jammer a/c ------ that's also a big hole in the DCS universe

i've brought that up before and i *hope* someday that we'll have those platforms appear in DCS

but there's one platform no one talks about that i have seen - correct me if i'm wrong that had a significant impact on that era...

the F-111

note: i'm not advocating a full-blown human-flyable module

i'm just respectfully requesting the devs to please consider the inclusion of an FB-111 AI aircraft that we can use as heavy/deep strike/interdiction/low-level/night attack platform

that is all

thank you and have a great day!

Lately, I've really been wanting to fly a fixed wing transport... I'm thinking C-130H Hercules, MC-130H Combat Talon II, C-141B SOLL Starlifter, C-17A Globemaster III, KC-10A Extender, C-5B Galaxy. We need a much bigger map and a way to adjust the cargo loads to account for bulking out before reaching maximum weight and realistic cargo loads though. Oh and Paratroopers... Airborne, Rangers, SEALS, SAS, Delta... more variety in ground forces.

I'll second the want of the F-111 but I prefer the F-111F, F-111E, F-111D in that order. I'm sure the Aussies will want the F-111C... it was really the most capable version but it had not seen combat in its service life... that and the WWIII Europe scenario intrigues me much.
