Ramstein Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 When a patch is made, is it made in the USA, Russia, or both? Is it released in Russia, the USA, or both? If made/released in Russia, is it released during the day in Russia, which might mean in the middle of the night in the USA? Just wondering.. ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR

It doesnt take the same amount of skill or learning to fly a semi realistic flight model (FC2) as it does for a high fidelity model like blackshark. Try playing A-10C when it comes out and then come back and say the same statement. FC2 has simplified avionics/weapons/aircraft systems/flight model in comparison which to me would feel like its cheating compared to managing BS. This is the biggest reason I hesitate to play BS on a FC2 server. Edited May 14, 2010 by sweinhart3 Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart

That you would be able to fight a F-15 with the BS if it only were for same levels of realism? FC2 just puts less workload on the pilot, it doesn't let you do things that your airframe is absolutely incapable of. IMHO this argument is invalidated if every airframe stays inside it's mission parameters. Do you only join BS servers to lead the scoreboard? If so, you are missing out. Think less airquake. Realism may be lacking in flight model, but having support fighters and strikers on your side will definitely help with immersion factor (from the KA and the fixed wingers) and I think that's what it's really about. If you hesitate to play online because you're worried about the other players experience I think you'll be missing out. Ultimately it's your choice, but I think if you give it a chance you'll have some FUN!
159th_Viper Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 A Shark on the Battlefield is going to be invaluable, especially as an 'Observer/Target Marker' when the Toads are prosecuting Targets in a Valley Environment..... But one example - I've lost count how many times I have been tagged by Stingers/Avengers whilst on an Attack Run in Valleys - and it's not always easy for your Wingie to have 'Eyes On' and calling launches. A Shark talking you onto Target will definitely Aid SA. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder! Garfieldo Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I'm really looking forward to that kind of cooperative gameplay. Is anybody making any Ka-50&Su-25T coop missions?
BKLronin Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Is LOMAC realistic enough to combine it with BlackShark? I have never played LOMAC and am curious. I think thats asoloutely ok, as the above mentioned, as long as it is: 1.Not the same class of aircraft (Helicopters/planes) 2.Different roles 3.Most will fly coop anyway, that might be different within lomac [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Im not talking about that. It would be unrealistic for a BS to even think about engaging a fast mover. I also am sure ED did a good enough job with the flight models that would prevent grossly unrealistic flight behavior of the jets. I am speaking in terms of the pilot load that is required to practice aircraft/weapons management, target aquisition and dispatch, etc. I am not on the inside of such things and therefore not an expert. But I could take off and fly around and land any of those planes with zero training and practice cause I did it. I am sure if I jumped into a real F-15 I would crash and die on my first landing let alone manage any of the avionics. Im mostly worried that playing BS will just end up in sharkfest for the other players. Im assuming P2P is generally active which makes the Shark prime target and an easy kill if your on the other side. EtherealN Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Trust me - the shark is not an easy kill as long as the shark pilots knows anything about terrain masking. ;) (There are times where you can find testers and ED staff flying the shark on the 104th and other servers, btw - when you see that happen, hop in and try to kill them. :D ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Panzertard Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I had some 3 hours of Ka-50 flying the other night on the 104th, what got me in the end was a lethal combination of a Tunguska and alcohol. On my own server quite a few hours as well during public testing. However if you plan to fly solo Chuck Norris style, you might get picked up pretty quickly. But if you use caution and general situation awereness you'll have a lot of fun. And flying using voice com's also helps - you will get additional information from your fellow fixed wing pilots. :) The mind is like a parachute.
