DCS questions

Hey guys,

I am new to flight sims, and I was very interested in the DCS-A10 simulator.

However, I was wondering, is there anyway to mod the game or do something to add other jets into the game, such as F16's or F18's or something? I saw a video and it showed gameplay of DCS and I saw him flying a Su-25 I believe and a F18, so I was wondering if it was possible, and if so, how?

Thanks :)

Mmm, I think that probably must've been Flaming Cliffs. That's where you can fly SU25, SU27, SU33, MIG29, F15C,A10A... all with simplified flight model and not as functional cockpits as DCS-A10C or DCS-KA50. Only the SU25T has the advanced flight model I believe. The FA-18 was not flyable I believe.

VNAO gave you the superhornet and it was always possible to do it with a file. Got a link to the vid?

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Here's the vid link:

for Lock on FC2... do I need to buy LOMAC first? Is there any package that has both?

That's DCS. There's no other flyables in that link though.

If you also want FC2 you do need LOMAC. You might be able to find Lock on PLatinum somewhere which includes both but original LOMAC is dead cheap anyway. Have a look on Amazon or ebay. ED can't give it as a download as ubisoft owns that game.

EGI CDU labels?

In sim, on the AAP panel, the EGI and CDU switches have no labels. The manual on page 173 says these switches are labeled as CDU and EGI however in sim this is not the case. Which is correct?

Cheers

Yes - known issue already reported.
Can we also have the white indication line by the intercom control panel's rotary selector dial, so we can see what's selected? :D See attached picture.

I looked at the picture and my first thought was: "wow, it's a nice mess mod you have there for your cockpit". And then I realized that it was a RL picture. Another indication of ED's great work in modeling the inside of the plane

I didn't want to start a new thread so I'm posting here...

Everytime I attempt a takeoff in a mission or campaign I can't get my speed above 120kts and I crash off the end of the runway. I've checked my wheel brakes and my emergency brake, tried flaps at MVR and DN. The only thing that seems to help is taking less payload or fuel.

My question is this: How can I take a payload with enough ordinance to complete the mission, and enough fuel to make it home, and still be able to reach takeoff speed?

I've watched every track/video I can find but nothing has stood out that I'm not doing correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm at work now but I can post a track when I get home if it will help.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Forums :)

Assuming your flightstick is calibrated properly and in the absence of a track, it's difficult to pinpoint the issue. Post a track later if you get a chance.

Absolutely. No idea what the issue could be without a track, but there is certainly something amiss.

Not sure what the key command for throttles are, but try that to see if it's not a controller issue. Also, are your fuel boost pumps on? If I recall if those aren't on, you have reduced power, but I'm not sure about that one.

Do you use a TM HOTAS Warthog? If yes, check the throttle there is a plastic detent/limiter under the bridge in between the two throttle sticks. this seems to be configured for "Jetfighter" / Afterburner detent, lately...

We had this issue in the German forums a few days ago.

Look if there is a space left under the throttle sticks when pushed to full forward if yes, try to pull them up and over the detent. If this is possible you need to reverse the plastic limiter (it is described in the manual).

Also check for additional controllers confusing your throttle. Many Gamepads, rudders or "additional" Axis may be assigned to the throttle in parallel. Check that only ONE Axis is assigned to the throttel or left/right throttle for Warthog respectively.

Helpful is to press <CTRL>+RETURN to show a small window in the down left corner of the screen showing the movement of all the axis.

If your throttle does not reach the upper end it's perhaps miscalibrated.

Hope that helps.

Using TM Warthog and as far as I know it does not have any problems. In the Target Device Analyzer I can move both throttles from 0-16383.

The track is the first mission of the Georgian Hammer campaign. I've kept the default configuration and the mission editor shows total weight of 44,668.
