Well, I had hoped this would have been great successor of FSX... :(

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Hope is lost clearly :(. Fsx died for me when the studio was axed (indication work was ot being done on fax 2012). The only memorable Fsx content now (and since 2 days after launch) is third party developers, without them the sim would be long gone by now.:pilotfly:

I hadn't any expectations for MS Flight, not that I am turning my nose up to it per say I'm just not interested in a simplified civil flight sim. Not worth my download or install time, I already have too many sims (yes I said too many hehe) that I can't find time to play. If it's not going to break any ground, not interested.

Even at the "free" price point. Much rather play dcs :joystick:

Perhaps it will help launch the flight sim back into the mainstream?! Perhaps not.

that's hilarious and is unfortunately how video game industry goes. sad to see such practices extend to once untouchable genres like sims. oh well.

Yeah, i hate how they sound worried and underestimate people "we want every player to be able to play this". God forbid people should learn a bit how to handle certain things. I guess their main market are still console children 10-15. Best example was Shift 2. SMS first made it a sim, but EA got scared that it's too hard for kids to manage, so they had to dumb down the handling

Lucky for us there are still devs out there who create the real thing

My opinion:

Just close this thread or move it to the chit-chat(=things that still relate but doesn't fit).

Microsoft Flight just doesn't fit in the "Other Sims" section!

Hi, I have a more constructive opinion regarding MS FLIGHT.

First of all it is free to play! Second since it is free to play some kids (even poor ones without parents giving cash for expensive sims/hardware) may get interested in aviation more and pursue later flight sims and aviation careers.

Please stop this hate campaign against MS FLIGHT. My very first "flight games" were based on ZX SPECTRUM when I was like 7-8 years old. I wish I had something like MS FLIGHT back then. My true experience began when I got MS FS 4.0 on first PC that dad brought home, everything else before were games. This includes even SOLO FLIGHT I played on my cousins ATARI.

Sorry - I don't wanted to be non-constructive - (BTW my roots are the same as yours ;))

... I just wanted to name it as it is - Its a game - not a sim!

So the whole debate about "what did MS did to our sim?!" is absolute unnecessary and obsolete.

Just treat MS-Flight like what it is. ...and everything will be OK.

EDIT:...maybe it will turn into a Sim one day - who know?! - but it is much too early to think about this... We will see... - but right now its a GAME.

the above two posts are rather naive. the occurrence of people "converting" as it were from game type sims to true sims is greatly exaggerated. people gravitate towards what they like. as for why people are disappointed. you have to remember, ms flight is in fact the successor to the sim series. so they're right in lamenting what ms did to their "sim".

your only valid point is that there may be a chance for improvements. but i suspect that would comes in the form of payware.

- expecting that this improvements would come for free is naive.

..and MS is releasing "MS-Flight". not "MS Flight :that is a prequel/addon to MS FX"... the only thing that the PR department is saying in the advertisement is that MS Flight is a successor - not a prequel to MSFX.

from the beta looks of it, I don't savour it... This is a big departure from FSX... I really hate to say this, but I will not buy it.. I don't think its a sim, judging by the stupid Xbox/PS3 tag..

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Long-time fans of the MSFS-franchise will be our priority, they once said. We can accept MS Flight as it is, a game, but they shouldn't have made this promise. Only Hawai with special unlocks (bwleghh!) I think navaids are not even simulated. What would be the point of an ILS/VOR/GPS approach if you don't have a VC in certain overpriced addon planes.

Can someone of the MS Flight Beta testers tell me if that moving camera perspective we see in the trailers, is implemented in the game?

It looks very much like Ezdok for FSX, if you know what I mean.

Or is it something only the developers have access to, to make some nice shots for trailers?

From videos that I've seen on the internet it looks rather similar to FSX in alot of ways except the graphics look better than FSX. It has the potential to out do FSX if the devs decide to add more to it at the moment there is not enough information to make any decision as to what sort of sim it will be.

Sorry, when the only view option for the P-51 is 3rd person, that eliminates the product from being considered a 'sim' in my book. Unless we are talking about an RC aircraft sim that is.;)

"You don't need a joystick or a keyboard, just grab a mouse." Now that makes me want to run right out and buy a flight sim.

Besides, I already have the Ikon A5 for FSX and my (somewhat modded) Hawaii looks pretty damn good too!:P
