Rainmaker Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 The A10C has obogs. as long as the system is functional you dont run out. I guess they didnt model that. On Board Oxygen Generation System. uses engine bleed air and super concentrates oxygen molecules making breathable air. LOX is obsoleet. Not all the A-10's have been retrofitted to have OBOGS, yet. The modification is still on-going at the present time.

lubey Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Smoke particles respond to environmental changes like wind for example. Wind direction and strength alters smoke particles. But does flying through a smoke column alter it? Someday I wanna see the wingtip vortices swirl it all around.... 1 SPECS: Intel Core i5 760 @ 3.2 Ghz +turboboost enabled, 12 GB DDR3 1600 @ 1500 Mhz, ATI Radeon 5850, TrackIR 5, X52 Pro and Saitek pedals

lobo Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Lobo, can you describe when mach tuck starts in the game and better yet link any documentation you might have about mach tuck in the real A-10? I'm interested in experimenting with this. Thanks. Go up high. Like 20,000+ and then put it in a vertical dive. trim it so that it has a slight nose up tendancy. At some point as the speed reaches redline (ie approx .75m or 450KCAS) there will be a noticable switch from the nose up to a definate nose down pitch. You can reference the A-10a Manual page 6-4. bogusheadbox Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Correct me if i am mistaken but the SU25t in Flaming cliffs one suffered from "mach tuck" 1

I use it for myself mostly. Either as a reference or to mark places I need to go back to. Somehow it got in there when I uploaded my building file.. mvsgas Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Have you guys used the IR marker with the TGP and the NVG? I think that is pretty cool. RogueRunner Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 They already do :) One of my last flights I landed with anti-skid off, and blew both main tires. Trying not to skid off the runway, and correcting the sideways motion too hard, I also blew the nosewheel tire. From hard landings maybe but most definitely not from braking. Did several tests now and once landed, AS off and brakes full will lock the wheels up but they will not burst. With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

timc Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Its systems detail that I like so was impressed by the things that I didn't expect to work, such as: - Cross gate working - in a dive or climb with the gate open, seeing fuel flow into the lower tank - Engine windmilling in flight with fan speed shown on fan speed dial. Fan speed will increase in a dive (ie with an increase in IAS) - Emergency flap retract works slowly when stationary on ground but quicker in flight due to aerodynamic forces - Flight seems more 'squirrely' with pitch and trim SAS turned off - Yaw trim control working as advertised (although its not enough to control the yaw produced by an engine out) 1
Kaiza Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Nice spots timc! [url=http://www.aef-hq.com.au/aef4/forumdisplay.php?262-Digital-Combat-Simulator][SIGPIC]http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/2500/a10161sqnsignitureedite.png[/SIGPIC][/url]
mvsgas Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I think one cool thing for me is that when I get stuck on any avionics ( what this or that mean, hoe that works etc) I can actually use RL manual to understand the system. Now, I do not have access to A-10 stuff, but some systems are on the F-16 and some things are very, very similar. That says a lot to me anyway. :joystick::book: To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Blaze Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Being able to see the laser beam at night with your NVG's on, SO COOL! i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. Headspace Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Now, I do not have access to A-10 stuff, but some systems are on the F-16 and some things are very, very similar. The C is primarily avionics and flight control upgrades and as a result shares plenty of DNA with the 'A' counterpart, the manual for which is floating around and linked in the documents thread. It helped me understand how the HRFCS works and how the hydraulics system works. ED apparently did some serious homework on this.

polygonpusher Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I found myself trying to use the track-ir visor to block out the sun, which in a way i suppose it did!
andysim Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Yea the Lazor in NVG is awsome. I also like the lights on either side of the canopy that go up with it when its opened. Flying at night is really fun but I think the NVGs have just a little to much gain. However I posted on the Beta section and was told thats just how it is so I will have to get used to it :megalol::smilewink:
26-J39 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Gear Physics Inbound for landing with a right turbine failure and a damaged left, hit the runway pretty hard, all seemed ok in cockpit.. Heaving on the brakes slowing up.. Once I got to about 20-30 knots the nose started to pitch up.. I'd hit the brakes and the nose would pitch down slamming the already busted front tire into the ground.. lol I'm thinking WTF. This happened about 3 times, thought I was at the rodeo. :) After stopping on the runway with the nose pitched in the air, I see how the L&R gear were bent forwards. Center of gravity is past the back of the L&R gear wheels.. :) Great physics :D
Joe Kurr Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Yesterday I landed on a road and had a head-on collision with a truck! :D Another car drove straight through me though, so I'll have to check again if this was a one-off incident. This was civilian traffic, so no active ground-units. Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award

Kula66 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I just love the way the head tracks on the TGP ... however, I noticed that you can't look at yourself, the cockpit is missing!
recoil17 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 When you bank the plane, the head (view) leans in the opposite direction to try and stay level. This may be because I turned on the option to have "head g movement", or something like that. This was civilian traffic, so no active ground-units. This is design, not a flaw. Civilian traffic doesn't get in the way of game-units. You can blow them up, but they do not physically interact with the a-10 or ground veh's. I imagine it would be a mini-nightmare of traffic jams, ya know, the tank column stuck on a bridge with a delivery truck going the other way, and the AI is too polite to smoosh the civi's. This was something i noticed in BlackShark, same behavior here. 2600K @ 4.2GHz, MSI P67A-GD55, 16GB G.Skill @2133 , GTX 970, Rift, SSD boot & DCS drive [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
