If i hadn’t already pre-ordered, the A-10 beta would have me ordering anyway. I’ve mapped China hats & boat switches to various Cougar shifted button states, but, by god it will all be easier with the proper buttons there.

 

I couldn’t give a toss whether its designed for an A-10 and i end up getting DCS: Whatever, next, or BOB when that ever shows. Has there EVER been a time when you have thought, "geez, my HOTAS has TOO MANY axis and switches"?

Wife walked into my "hangar" last night and said "Where've they come from"?? She was referring to the BRIGHT GREEN Cougar MFD's that were sitting below my monitor. Gulp! "I've had them for years" I replied, "But I never got around to installing them since we moved house".

 

She gave me that look as if to say "You lying b'stard". I protested strongly and kinda won her over. I'd drawn attention to my cockpit now though and she stood for a while, soaking up all the equipment as if playing a memory game. If the X52PRO morphs into a TM Warthog, I think I'll be in the shit.

 

Ah well, I'll worry about it when it happens!

My Cougar knows its time is up. Every time i unplug the damn thing i have to wipe the firmware when i plug it back in. Its like when you are breaking up with someone and they just get more annoying towards the end. As if thats going to make you come back.

say you had to send it back because it was faulty and the replacement that was sent was a "free" upgrade for having sent out faulty stock in the first place. you will have to get pedals as well though, if you do that......:smilewink:

Way to look down at ppl that are sharing a joke - maybe try to get in on it instead of looking down your nose at others?

 

I doubt there's anyone on here that's really 'scared' of their spouses. We're all adults here and can probably easily drop the $400 right now - even if your bank balance is below that (doubtful), there is the plastic fantastic.

 

What we're all fully aware of and you mentioned in your post (but failed to fully understand) that it is our own money and we do have bills to pay. There's the rent/mortgage/utilities/cc payments/car/transport/grocery and don't get me started on the cost of children.

 

What I'm trying to say is that while we can buy the TM the day it comes out, most of us have a some sort of financial nous that weighs up the cost of the bills you mentioned with something that's basically a non-essential.

It boils down to how long you can hold out and whether you can justify the price for yourself.

 

In a sense, most of us are using our partners as our money conscience, if you will - and we're the devils advocate.

So what's really stopping us impulse buying it is the knowledge of the responsibilities that we all have - unless you're still living with your parents.

 

Part of the fun is lamenting what our partners will say and their reactions. However, if it comes down to it and I tell my wife - "Honey, this is something that I really want, right now" then I know that she won't try to stop me or nag about it. And it's not gonna be a deal breaker. I mean c'mon - losing your relationship over $400..... I don't think so.

Hmm wifey just called and said she bought me a present, she felt the last 7-10 days i have been very focused on the A-10 game, and looking forward to playing it... So she went out and bought me the Logitech G940, why she didnt ask first what to buy, but okay still good... :)

 

Then in a 3-6 months i can invest in the Warthog Hotas... Btw anybody have experience with the G940...

From what I've read of net reviews (it's on the net so it's gospel), the g940 does have its problems. It's a good package but not up to the build standard of its comparable price range. Just google a few reviews and see what other simmers have to say about it.

 

But then again it is the complete package - HOTAS + rudder pedals.

 

Personally, for that amount of money, I'd rather have the TM:WH or even the x-65f.

It's not fear, it's limited cash for the household that includes 2 little kids who are VERY expensive to raise. Plus the pool I put in 2 years ago. There's always somewhere else the money is needed.
