It's a good feature. Hope it's easy on the FPS, if it's not, please make it optional as I am sure you will if this is the case.

Also, and sorry for asking, are there any plans to make rain effects in the canopy?

That would also be great, since the rubber on the Ka-50 wipers are cracking already... :P

EDIT: I forgot to ask if this is going to appear in Ka-50?

freakin' awesome news! This will add a lot to the immersion factor. I too wonder about what the performance impact will be. If its like I hope it is, it will just mean my SLI setup will get to do some more work.

Looks great. As mentioned, in-cockpit shadows are a huge immersion booster.

Just a suggestion to ED, though; can in-cockpit shadows be a separate option rather than tied into the L/M/H Shadows menu? I'd hate to have to run Shadows at High (or Xtra-High) just to get the benefit.

Ya... Self shadowing in FSX brings even my machine to its knees with everything cranked up.

Of course, FSX is quite possibly the least resource-efficient 3D engine I have ever seen, so I don't know where the benchmark goes, precisely. :dunno:

FSX rendering is utter garbage.

Mower I swear everytime someone brings up FSX you trash it. FSX is not a flight simulator, it is an operations and procedures simulator and it does it's job well. I happen to think it looks great even at med settings. Back on topic...... this mod sounds fantastic.

+1

That way anyone who's worried about the performance hit can just turn the option off. I agree though, it will be a huge immersion booster; I can see myself spending more time looking inside the cockpit than outside!

As others have said ROF does this and it looks fantastic, I bet the effect is way better in motion than it shows in those sreenies.

With a decent gfx card it doesn't seem to be too much of a system hog in ROF, hopefully the same in DCS.

I have a hd4850 and run the WIP version at the same settings as i do 1.1.0.6. No promises, but it does run (and look) great ;)

Goof grief, am I the only one that doesn't want these eye candy features... At least not yet... How about fixing the known bugs first????

Then add the extra major functions for exporting to keep the Helios & pit builder types happy (export radio displays, CDU display, counter measure displays, etc).

Then go add the eye candy like pilots and shadows etc.

I'm dying for the day I can click outside the main window and not have my apu shut off or random switches turn off!
